There you have it...two weeks is too short...the whole deal here is that there is a huge amount of people Im denying 19mm..if it is really valid one week would prove it. They have three weeks total and it is not designed to fail....If it doesnt happen it will be my fault though.

No doubt some will say that, but I think most believe you're genuine in the proposal. Even those who are skeptical think it's a bit of marketing genius.

and those feelings go to the internet generation...no good deed goes unpunished...Some who are skeptical are also probably ones who said that they would buy an MM right away if I only offered them in 19mm...money where the mouth is not a marketing play or ploy...

Cant everyone say..."Hey cool, If there is a demand he is going to make them for us?" why all the deep critique?

You can't win over everyone, especially on the Internet. The vast majority think you're genuine.

I did see one humorous post that said that if you have to send out a mea culpa certificate it would be on a Xeroxed moon print. I'll give them credit for creativity.

And, playing devil's advocate; there will always be a certain amount of people that will want to play the instrument before committing to it, so placing an order might not work for them, even though they may have an interest.

Why would they need to play them first? Every vocal person has said that the ONLY reason they haven't bought a Stingray 5 is because it didn't have 19mm spacing. They must be pretty damn certain tha 19mm spacing is the bee's knees.

This has turned into an extraordinary thread - great that BP and EBMM can be so flexible.

I can't help feeling a bit of 'call my bluff' going on here - I will be very interested to see whether anyone puts their money where their mouth is, let alone enough people. I certainly won't be because I love the spacing the way it is (as has every bass player who's played my Ray 5 or Bongo 5 - that is except one who is an EBMM knocker who's a t*at anyway - he hates you cos he can't sound like Bernard Edwards on a 'Ray - he hasn't noticed it's the way he plays and of course, he doesn't sound anything like Nard on his favourite F**de*s either - that's prob an unrepresentative sample but say 1 out of 30).

I got my ruler out and 1.5 mm is barely visible to my receeding eyesight - these guys who love 19 mm spacing must have very exact feel and requirements (am I right BP - about $50 k per mm to achieve this?).

I'm now awiting shooting by 19 mm fans :D :D

Hey lets cool down....The people who were very critical of what I have decided to make are going to find a conspiracy theory here.

This is just a fun little exercise.....IYou really cannopt expect people to understand what goes into making an instrument...something as simple as 19mm spacing with inventory required to get the right price and tooling and engineering...its probably going to be about 85K.

Lets just wait now....there are two and a half weeks left on the timer

Me and a few others were wondering.. Where exactly do we do the actual ordering? I clicked on the STORE link, but all that was available was one Stingray with a fancy wood. Is there maybe a link I missed in the thread or am I going to the wrong area of the site? It's Shopatron, correct?

Right link, but it's not ready to go yet. They said by Tuesday it will be up.

Because it's more fun to stir it up and see how everyone reacts to the smell? Because no one thinks it's that simple? Or I should say: a vocal minority thinks it can't be that easy.

I'm surprised, although I shouldn't be, at the hardcore group that truly believes this has been set up to fail. I don't think it's that convoluted, but then I never really enjoyed The X Files, either.

Tick...tick...tick... :)

Ya know what's REALLY messed up?

I actually LOVE the spacing the way it is, but I am considering getting an EBMM 19mm anyway!

Is there something wrong with me?

It's good to know we have so many manufacturing and tooling experts online, too.

I looked back through the thread on talkbass. The setup for failure reaction was based on the assumption by most that the two week window was opening on that day. I think it was created by the announcement that the link would be up on "Tuesday" and everyone thought that meant the same day. A week to get the word out makes the two week window for ordering very fair. Some may still think it's set up for failure, but most now the general feeling is that it's fair.

It's still a bit disconcerting that some people are really grasping for something negative to say.

On any board there will be 10-20% fan boys and 10-20% haters. Ignore them and you'll find a reasonable 60-80% that are more representative of the whole.

I'm a fanboi - with hands that fit the MM spacing just nicely - any more gives me cramp over a gig.

But I really hope you guys get your 19 mm spacing EBMMs - nice initiative by BP and to be applauded.
