With all this talk, I have the one solution for Eddie:

USE THE GEAR YOU HAD TO BEGIN WITH! IT WAS "THE" SOUND AND IT HOLDS IT'S OWN EVEN TODAY!!!! You are a bazillionaire and don't need the freakin' money, so stop brand jumping!

I've got a better idea, instead of him worring about endorsments, HOW ABOUT RELEASING AN ALBUM ED!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Dust of those POS charvels, crank the Marshall, give Al, Mike and Sam a call and get to rocking.

I mean 2 Best of's and 1 album in about 10 years, gee.

Scott.

I think Eddie is pretty much the same as any of us. We have a tone we like for a while, then we inevitably get an 'itch' for a new guitar, or a new amp, effect or whatever. Then we have a new tone we like for a while. The difference is when Eddie wants a new amp or guitar, it's all over the industry news and fansites. If he's gonna play a Charvel, or a Peavey, at this point in his life, he's gonna get paid to do it no matter what.

I'd have to agree though, no matter what the gear... sober the hell up, crank up the amp and start recording, put something out there. Hell, I'd take another Cherone album if that's what they wanted to do. Two greatest hits packages just plain sucks, and no new material just sucks, the three new tunes were ok, but sounded rushed and not very well thought out, just something to justify someone buying the new cd.

As a side note, I recently watched a bootleg dvd of the opening night show for the 2004, and man was Eddie out of it, he nearly fell down two or three times, his tone sucked (IMO) and he made more mistakes playing his stuff than I normally do. He needs to clean up before anything good can happen. Sammy seemed like he was just putting in time, and didn't really care, Mad Anthony did his thing of course, with his usual style and grace ;) But the whole show was actually kinda sad to watch, when it was over, I wished I hadn't watched it.

Same here. Sometimes memories of the old days should not be replaced by a "going down in flames tour".

EVH is human. You are only good for so many good ideas in your life, no matter who you are. He has done all that he can do IMO. Anything more is a parody of VH.

I would like to see EVH get his crap together and go out with Pettruci and the boys on a G3+ tour. Get out the "band/rock star" thing, and be a musician for a while.

There will be more EVH guitars, etc. I betcha'.

I didn't care too much for the tour either. Eddie seemed gonzo and his playing sloppy and unfocused much of the time.

Sammy on the other hand sounded in fine form which kinda surprised me as much as the eddie thing.

But I gotta give Eddie some love too.

Hard to think of 3 guys more responsible than EVH, Page, and Hendrix for influencing a generation of professional and hobby guitar players all over the globe.

When eddie burst onto the scene, anyone who thought they were any good suddenly had a whole lot more practicing to do.
