Why would EBMM ever wanted to assemble guitars in Japan:confused: Their labor cost is lot more than in United States. That is why Toyota, Nissan, Honda are assembling cars here in USA:(

Toyota isn't assembling cars in the USA to cut down on labor costs... rather it is to cut down on SHIPPING costs. It makes alot more sense to build the product where the end customer is located, if you can get away with it.

Sorry for zombifying the thread, but I'm looking at pictures of a Stingray EX right now, and thought I would update the thread with some "hard facts".

  • Back of the headstock has no text.
  • Front of headstock is normal: Ernie Ball® Music Man® StingRay®.
  • Tuners say Music Man.
  • Neck plate is normal (6 bolts, says Ernie Ball Music Man, has E serial number).
  • 3-band EQ.
  • Bridge:
    • says Music Man and is string-through. Short bridge, no mutes, looks like this 30th Anniversary Bass 2006 bridge.
    • Edit to add: Now I found another Stingray EX with top loading bridge too. Mildly confusing. :)
    • Edit to add 2: Now I found another Stingray EX with top loading and string mutes. Is there anything these crazy Japanese didn't do?

Can't say I'm not tempted to buy it.
