Hi folks, it's my first post here and a good Hi to ya'll!

I've just taken over my brothers John Petrucci JPX and when I pushed the whammy bar onto the bridge, it just swivels and do not stay put at a position say if I need to position it facing the rear to set it up for 'fluttering' effect.

So my question is the whammy suppose to swivel by default or am I missing some parts? Anyway I can make the bar stay put at a position like I can with the floyd rose or ibanez bridges?

Any help appreciated.

Divebomb the trem and look at the block in the cavity. There's a small hole right inline with the high e string. Tighten with Allen wrench as needed.

Hi Shreddinhand thanks for the tip that worked! Also one more question, with the Allen wrench tightened now do I need to loosen it to remove the whammy bar or does it not matter?

It shouldn't matter. The arm "pops" in and out. However, if that screw in the back is too tight it may make it more difficult to "pop" in and out.

So is that screw actually in contact with the whammy? Or is the screws pressing on some sort of a ball bearing which rests on that indent on the whammy?
