Hello all,

Putting an Axis SS, HH, Piezo trem on order this week. This will be my first EBMM.

The backstory: I play in a rock cover band in Atlanta and I wanted the one axe that can do most, if not all, of it. For the longest time, I was courtin' the PRS Custom 24, but the price always created issues. Saw lots of folks over at BAM and other boards showing EBMM the love, so I went to GC and A/B'd the axis and the CU24. As I love my strat neck profile for comfort and playability, I went head over heels for the axis. Don't wanna bash other company's gear, but the axis just nailed it (for me) for tone, playability, and price (which I think is kind of a steal).

Anyways, I'm looking forward to getting my order in, and then the 4-6 months(?) of anticipation.

Hello and welcome! I wish your order comes faster so you can fall in love with your axe just as I did with mine :D

Best,

Welcome and congrats... The wait is the hardest part, especially for your first one...

What color did you get?

Fred,

Going with transluscent red w/ the rosewood fingerboard. It'll be my UGA git-fiddle!

Nice choice, especially the rosewood fretboard... ;) You know I really liked when UGA pulled out the black uni's, maybe you should reconsider.

Like I said, the wait is tough for the first one, but worth it.

thanks!

Thanks everybody for the well-wishes and what-not.

Fred, don't wanna turn this into a sports talk thread, but, yeah the black uni's were nice, I was at that game and when the team came out in those it was like dropping a bomb in the middle of the stadium!

Lefty, I won't dignify that question with a response. :)

Thanks for all the well-wishes. Hopefully the wait won't be too long for the new axe.

I actually have a question while we're here. For all of you Axis SS HH owners, how would you describe the difference in level between the humbucker positions and the in-between "tapped" positions? Currently, the level difference between my strat and the EMG paul is managed by the level slider on my Boss EQ. Just wondering if I'll have to do the same during gigs when I'm going to those tapped sounds.

Welcome, this isn't gonna be the only EBMM you'll buy. Prepare to be constantly broke, also you have to post pics of the guitar or else it doesn't exist.

But in all seriousness i hope you enjoy the guitar, and stick around and have a chat, we are all a friendly bunch around here.

Cheers,

Scott.

Hey there...As an Axis fanatic, I can second the motion that this will not be your only EBMM....it is definitely an addiction!
To answer your question about the in between positions, there is quite a volume difference, but personally, when i use those positions, I use a compressor as a clean boost and it works perfectly!
Let us know if we can help you in any way!
Welcome to the forum and the madness,
Jeff

Don't forget there's some drop off in volume when splitting the coils on position 2 and 4 as compared to the hums that are hot.

Nice choice adding the piezo.
