Someone posted some shots of the new Ibanez lineup for 2010 on another forum I frequent and I was somewhat taken aback by what I saw:

I can't help but feel like they're getting their inspiration from some existing guitar already in production. Kind of BS if you ask me.

Not sure if this thread is kosher or not. Just wanted to share my outrage, but I'll be happy to pull it if the word comes from above.

I dont really see it as a JP lookalike... its more like an RG with silhouette style contours... thats all.

As for the axis lookalike though... lol

They do look inspired by the ebmm jp but they'll never get close as long as ebmm has these sweet trems and necks!

I'm a former Ibanez player. Used to own 6 different models, including Jems and Universe. I will say that none of the Ibanez ever come close to how EBMM performs, especially the neck, and then playing comfort with the body shape etc...

Well hey young kids can get the guitar their hero has and dream and save of owning the real thing. Gives them a goal.

None of the Ibanez i used to play came even close to my JP50.

haha! we do have a lot in common there Tung!
my standards for guitar really took a leap after I got my JP50,
which results to the retirement of some of my ibbys :D

Whoever says EBMM guitars just play/look/are better than Ibbys is very subjective (or unfair, if you compare with Made in Indo Ibanezes). Or as as famous Dude said - this is, like, your opinion, man.

My two toys that get most play are an Ibanez RG8470F and since recently an EBMM Axis. Both wonderful at what they are. Both are incredibly well built. Both deserve credit in their own league. Heck, I have them because they sound different, feel different, have different mojo ;).

Key is - my Axis grows on me by the day. Something not many guitars ever achieved. But the 8470F (which btw competed against a BFR JP at the time and won me over) has, and so have my two French LAGs.

The seeming resemblance of the RGD to the EBMM JP models was something that a lot of people on the Ibanez boards pointed out already. There were quite some funny jokes, too ;), and pretty good respect for JP's EBMM model. Mind that Petrucci switched over Ibanez, something a bunch of Ibby devotees will never forget - but easily forgive, seeing the end product of the switch :).

Just enjoy what you do like and let others enjoy their stuff, it's not an absolute world ;).
