Just curious to see if there are any interesting new developments that have surfaced. Getting gas bad and might pull the trigger on a JPXI-7. Only thing to stop me is a perhaps the stallion. Or maybe, a new JP promo video where John talks about the JP12 AND plays it. I would like to hear the tonal difference between the 12 and the 11.

Would you mind dropping a link to this video with JP and the twelve? I can't seem to find it. And yes, update on the stallion please!

I think he meant that he would like to see one.
It does seem pretty weird that JP is still seen with JPXI

I asked on another post (which has disappeared) if there were any news, big poppa said "we are working on it as we speak".

I also asked if there is any chance the JPXI might be discontinued in the near future.

I am on the verge of getting the JPXI. I do think it's perfect, but the hype of the "inovative body" is really holding me back. :S If i know the JPXI is not going to be discontinued with the stallion, i'll wait patiently :)

actually, scrap that: there are no videos of anyone playing the JP12, and the usual suspects in the UK still say "stock 0"

Any idea when some might make their way to europe?

I remember seeing a live video of JP playing the 12 from someone at the Petrucci forum. Also I think his demo of the TC Dreamscape pedal also has the 12.
As far as discontinuing the line, it's been mentioned that the 12 may be the end of evolving particular design, but not the end of production of it. Kind of like when the regular JPs evolved into the BFRs, X, XI, etc... Come to think of it, the JPs just evolved into having stainless frets so who knows? :D

There are plenty of videos of him using it live on DT's most recent European tour. He mainly uses the 7 string one, and sometimes the 6 from what I can tell.

OK :p
wish it was something more detailed, like those clinics for japanese magazines he does, etc :)

I have not spent much time on youtube: should have watched a couple more movies with a spyglass before commenting :) apologies.

I think as a new owner would be good to try them but, not sure if I would go all excited about the JP12 if I already owned a BFR or X.. guitar

It kinda hurts that I do have enough saved up for one, but I am waiting just to see if the stallion is all that has been building up for. If not, i hope the XI is still around as that thing is a propper monster.

Anyway, since there are no more news, back to playing some more :)

I second this. I'd like to hear the difference too.

On a related note: Hey, BP, how come Guitar Center stocks the Petrucci models so poorly? I went to GC and they didn't have any JPX, JPXI models and they had like one BFR.

GC has them they just sometimes get distributed funny through their distribution center....find a manager and ask them to get some in for you to check out.

WE have not decided anyting about the future of the 11 12 13 ....It is a progression of JP's design in a guitar.

Sorry for the confusion. I keep thinking about this quote from your NAMM thread.
"JP12 Probably the final installment of the JP bfr series....JP has dialed it into stainless stell frets basswood body with maple top and tone block...."

But then I read further and saw this;
"Thanks for the report! So this is the end of the jpx and the JP bfr line?" -JVH
"I didnt say that jvh you never know with JP" -BP

What I take from these threads is, nobody knows just yet. MM are always working on new ideas, protos, etc. If an artist really likes something those designs will work their way into production.

Best advice with the "sneak peak of a new guitar in development" threads is just to stay tuned. If/when something comes out, we'll all know about it. This stuff takes time.
