I think I prefer the EBMM trem. I have never has any issues with it on any of the guitars that I own. I wonder why they opted for the FR on this model.

As to the FR trem, I thought I'd read/heard somewhere the JP16 is a callback to his original Ibanez setup?
JP said in an interview he chose the FR to provide more options for folks that maybe haven't bought a JP because they wanted a locking trem.
I'm not a hater, I love the EBMM JP trem but I also love a locking system as well. I'll be picking up a 16 for sure.
