The BFR middle position should have the two "inside" coils on. So, on the neck pickup, the coil closest to the bridge will be on, and on the bridge pickup, the coil closest to the neck will be on.

I think the original question is if the neck pickup can be "split" so only a single coil is active in the neck or bridge position.

as previously answered, this is not a capability. the push/pull only affects the middle position, again activating both humbuckers fully. it has no effect on the bridge or neck pickup when they are on by themselves.

lovely guitar!!
but is the push pull on the other jp's too?
because i've got a jp limited edition 06, and I know that the d-sonic can be split, but my knobs aren't push pull...are they?

Okay to clear all the confusion:
Regular JP: In the neck position you have the neck Humbucker, middle position selects the inside coils of the two buckers, bridge position is just the bridge pup.
BFR: Same as above, but when you use the push-pull, you can select both coils of both buckers. Every coil is active.
Neither JP allows you to select just one coil on either pup.

I only have one problem with it and it's a problem I've had on both my JP7's to date (it was fixed on one, the other I haven't sent in): the low B string is dragging the fingerboard behind the nut (see picture at the bottom of the post, sorry for the quality, it was taken with my phone). It's actually starting to break through the finish a bit, but it's still really minute, though it probably shouldn't touch at all

If there are no tuning problems It is not an issue,.

But don't bother to send the guitar back.

Get a file, and file it down, and finish with sandpaper. It is Rosewood so this is easy to do and it will look perfect. I know this can make you nervous with a brand new BFR! you could practice on one of your other ones. I did this on my
JP6 and it looks great.

I'm sorry, but I don't think filing big gouges into the fingerboard behind the nut on a $4000+ guitar is a good solution.

Nervous? No, I've built plenty of guitars in my life (routed, refretted, etc).

But do I think it's something that should be corrected by EB, not me. It's clearly a manufacturing problem, nothing else. :D

It's more than sanding. I'd have to remove ~2-3mm of material.

No problem. Here is what it looks like when it is done. Note the clear coat picks up nicely at the end of the fretboard and at the beginning of the headstock. Tape it off to achieve this.

Or contact customer service.

Jeffrrey you are being a total and complete jerk. Why are you on a public campaign without letting us fix the problem? It is rude and you know better.

Why dont you bash us for another coupla weeks and then send it to us?

Pete have you shipped his second one? I may buy it

I'm not bashing anyone, Sterling.

Wonderdog is just trying to talk me into fixing it myself and talk me out of sending it to EB and I (was trying) to make it clear that I don't want to fix it myself (mostly because of warranty reasons).

How is that bashing EB, really?

Sorry if you think it is. Please don't overreact to the situation, it's not what you think it is, man. Any time I (or anyone) say anything other than glowing praise, it gets blown up and misconstrued into some mess that it's really not.

I have never bashed EB as a company or their guitars and really don't appreciate the insinuation.

As I've already said repeatedly, I'm waiting for the other one to arrive before I can send this one back, I have not recieved it yet, so how can I send it back? I have (arguably) the biggest gig of my measily music career next Saturday and plan on playing one of my BFR's, so at this time, it's impossible for me to send it back.

Maybe instead of jumping me and accusing me of bashing EB you should ask Wonderdog not to badger people into fixing their guitars themselves in such a fashion that will probably void their warranty, which I'm assuming it would since I was told softening the gloss on the neck would void the warranty so removing 3mm of wood and finish from the fingerboard behind the nut probably would too.

I really like you, and what you do for this community and I love your guitars, but I really don't appreciate the way you jump me all the time for nothing. Have I ever said "EB Sucks" or "this guitar sucks" or anything NEGATIVE? No, never. I may have brought light to a manufacturing problem, but I have never been negative about it.

Of course, you don't notice the hundreds of words of praise I have for my guitar in every post I've talked about it, you only notice the comments about the problem with the nut, which isn't that big a deal I (and I've said that a hundred times too), which I know EB will take care of when I have the time to send it back.

Jeffrey read my sig re read your posts. You have a Very small problem which we would be happy to fix. Let us fix it. If you want to wait to fix it then give us the courtesy of not saying things like you did.

Im sorry if I jumped on you but really you have posted poor quality pics and you keep talking about it but you really really should let us fix it and if you choose to wait than be fair to the guys and gals at the factory and stop talking about it.

I think that wonderdog was trying to help. the amount of finish on this deal is tiny.

Please let us fix it.
Jefrey we have had problems twice and if you re read the quilt vs flame maybe you might understand. Look how many people are very happy with their BFR's both flame and quilt. You went nuts on that one.

If you want to win an argument with Wonderdog (an atorney!) Good luck..only I kick his ass in debates.....but he bills me for them and they might not legitimate victories
dont throw us under the bus. OK?

Jeffrey you are very strong willed and strong minded like me..we will absolutely clash from time to timebut hat doesnt mean that we arent pals.

I never "let" anyone win :)

I was just trying to help, it is a super easy fix and a small issue.
