So I've had my DD luke for almost a year, but I hardly play it - it was setup by Strings and things, and plays well but just doesn't wow me -

I'm not in a band right now so it's not had a fair road test, but i'm going to restring it, set it up - If i like it it stays, if I don't it's for sale.

...

Smelly.

If the guitar doesn't speak to you, and you don't need/want to retain it for a collection, then why keep it?

maybe it was because they were too expensive?

The paint & inlays were a $150 addition to List Price, and were not affected by the price increase that went into effect while they were being produced. Sterling made the package more than reasonable.

Green is always a tough sell, plus this color looks like ox-bile... :D

(I still have mine and they won't be goin anywhere!)

I think that many of the ones that were re-sold back in the summer were owners taking advantage of the market and selling them for more than they orginally paid.

Honestly, I don't think the overall number of Dargies that have been re-sold has been any greater than any of the other EBMM's out there. It's just that Dargie's seem to get noticed more.

Thanks guys,
Cost was never an issue - the guitar is outstanding value, and poppa and the team couldn't have made any money for all the extras you got and for that I'm blown away with gratitude which makes the possibility of selling even more painful.

This is the most I have EVER (in 18 years of playing) spent on a guitar, and I have played it less than 5 hours in almost a year, instead a used AL that cost 800Bucks never leaves my hands, I have to axis' which I couldn't sell, and a sub which is amazing .

i just can't find where the luke fits in with all of them, I have the house to myself tomorrow - having a guitar show in my living room and mr TSL601 and some allen keys! - one final go with the luke neck and then we'll see...

Thanks to all for your PM's - If i sell i'll post it on the appropriate thread, enquires already received, will be dealt with in order.

As far as I know the DD's were the 1st internet only guitar to be sold - I was part of this, and waited 8 months to take delivery - every day was exciting, this is what makes any decision hard.

Please keep the comments coming it's helping ! - Thanks all.

I've just raised the trem on mine by turning the trem posts through 45 degrees, lubed the nut slots and the thing feels so much better than before.

I don't mean to highjack this thread but could skirby explain this!? Did you set your trem up to lower pitch only?

Thanks larry, didn't you have problems with the neck and feel on yours when you 1st got it? - and how did you get over it?
I played the crap out of it. I kept playing scales and exercises on it. Then in like a week I was playing things I never thought possible... Was it practice or was it the Dargie :D

Hey Smelly, I know a place in Australia where your DD Luke will be loved and cherished... :D

Seriously though, a friend once said to me (on buying new guitars): "Play the instrument as much as you can: if you then feel you just have to to take it home and cuddle up with it in bed, buy it. If you don't feel that way, move on to the next guitar." I suspect that the AL is the best fit for you.

Smelly man I feel for you, hard decisions to let go of a rare axe, but if it is not for you then move on and get another EBMM to your liking.

Selling mine was a hard thing to do, I love Lukes, and the color and design on the Dargies is outstanding, but for some strange reason I never really bonded with the DD Luke, not sure why, it became more of a look at this beautiful axe and was more art than guitar at that point.

Good luck in your decision and do what amkes Smelly happy:D

No the trem still floats, it was just that in factory setup the trem didnt perform "flutters" when you flick the trem bar, and was a little stiff. This was because the trem was set a fraction too close to the body. I just used a hex/allen key in the trem posts and unwound them a little (45 degrees only!). This made the trem lift up a fraction and it became a lot smoother in operation and hold tuning better.

It was no biggie just a tiny setup issue.

I added Big Bends Nut Sauce under the strings in the nut and that makes things a lot smoother too especially for bends and trem stuff...
