Take your time Smelly... Remember you will never be able to get another Fully Loaded Dargie Delight Luke (That usually makes me rethink selling mine ;) )

Sorry for the delay guys, my kids decided that sleeping was no longer an option!!! -

I called up a mate and begged do play a couple of numbers in his pub band last night (It's sat AM here) -

I got up and played Tore Down, Pretty woman, and the fastest version of Hey Joe ever, that combined with my tweaks regarding action and thanks to Larry's comment of playing the luke 24/7 - (which I've been doing - AL has been cased !)

So looks like (all be it a little late) the bond has been created, THanks all for your help, I know it seems like a small/silly thing, but I really appreciate you feedback and stories, you've really helped me a lot.

Thanks again

Smelly.

Smelly - if you think the neck is not your "shape" I can get it re carved for you to your own desire and refinished with BC gunstock oil and wax.

Trouble is you'd have to come down here to Cardiff - I'll put you up for the night

Cheers for the offer spud, I got a message on my youtube page, some kid offering a better picking technique, I followed it and am loving the change, it's really an issue with me rather than the guitar,

Don't worry guys AL has come out of the case in the last hour, I missed my maple!!!!- I'm alternating though (Driving Mrs Smelly nuts - as I should be putting up the christmas tree!)

I'm still bidding on a Sil Spec, which is also maple, so if I get that something may have to give, or 6 balls may be a good way to end 07 and wait for a BFR AL in 08!

I have just got my Xmas tree too - so I'll have to get cracking - decorating it.

Although I own a mere 5 guitars, any one of them can be the #1 that day. And any one of them can get cased for a bit. But, often times, opening a cased guitar is like buying a new one.

Smelly, glad to hear you've decided to keep it, there is just somethig really wicked about a DD Luke. :D

Danny, I know what you mean man, that's how I do it too. Usually I change them once every week or two. :)

Hey, glad you made up your mind! When I first got my second ball, I wasn't sure what to think of it. I always thought my other one played better and had the 'magic'. That was until I kept the other one cased, adjusted the action on the new one, and put 9 gauge strings on it. NOW, I feel like they are equals, or maybe even like the new one even better! Funny how small tweaks and playing the bejesus out of a great instrument can sway your opinions. You made a good decision!!

Happy Holidays!

Did I say that out loud??

Man, you've really taken off on this forum greenwizard! You are a prime example of what happens when you get your first EB! Like everyone warned you - It's an addiction........ and you my friend are addicted! :p :D

You're CLOSE to being a post whore. Haha. I've seen some funny posts from you in the past few days, so I'm definitely not bashing... Hehe.

Hey Smelly, I've been away the last few days and missed this thread, hoped you hadn't decided to sell your Dargie

I had a similar 'wobble' a couple of months ago, thought about selling my Dargie Petrucci...

I hadn't played mine much either, but I realised just in time that I'd put it on a pedastal (figuratively speaking) and was kinda scared to play it. All that specialness of being a forum guitar made it seem godlike and I was not worthy!

Turns out it just needed a setup (mine came straight from Strings & Things via the dealer without a setup as far as I could tell) and some serious playing time. The bond was set and that was that.

I've come to the conclusion over the last year or so that I'm a Luke guy, but my DD Pet is a great guitar and a nice part of my collection. I'm playing it more now and enjoying it.

Play that sucker! :D
