picked up a POD XT the other day (not the live) new for 20.00 cheaper than pod 2.0 new at the same store.

What a great device.

It sounded even better when I realized my stereo headphone where in Mono after 2 days and I switched the headphones to Stereo.

Selling the Korg Pandora now.

Anyone use it live?
How do you like the POD ?

It's a great little gizmo. I use it for recording at home and when I'm jamming and don't want to drag a lot of gear around. In that case I'll run it through a keyboard/full range amp.

Sounds good- but not nearly as good as my Guytron. Missing the "oomph" you get from a real amp. But still a great little unit.

I have one to and think it is terrific for home recording or playing through my practice amp. Don't forget to download the Line 6 Monkey and get some updates. The latest update was free and included a few more additional amps. There are also model packs and effects that can be added which increse the tonal possabilities. They are also selling a bass amp pack for the xt which means you won't have to buy the bass xt if you record bass.

I have the Pandora, but because of the portability and background jamming loops, I wouldn't get rid of it.

Good luck.

You have half of what you need now. :D The next step it to check out the Atomic amp. It was made for modelers, and I have two of them.

I also know the guys that started the company, and he's great. The product is phenomonal and the sound of the XT is ultra realistic through one of these things.

http://www.atomicamps.com The new website and a new amp model is coming within a month or so. For now, though, you can get a good idea of amp from the current site.

Yeah, I emailed Tom King, the founder today to let him know. They are currently working on the final revisions of the new site and also trying to get a new amp into production. Such is the life of a person getting a new company off the ground. ;)

Looks like it's back up now.

The PODxt through the Bose system works really well too... click on the link below and it will take you to a thread I started (under my first name Joseph) about the combination. However, the thread is mostly a discussion about the PODxt itself... the virtual world of modeler(s) has proven to be an enlightenment of sorts- makes the gigging life a lot simpler that's for sure...

I had a Flextone 2 and replaced it with an HD147. I'm digging Line 6 stuff since I broke down and gave it some quality time at home. I used to be a total tube snob, LOL

Just wondering if anyone on this forum has tried or head a PODxt Live through a Bose system yet...?

Sort of. A couple years back for guitar center's Guitarmageddan, I brought in my pod 2.0 and ran it thru their bose system. Sounded so good during sound check (along with my new LUKE piezo!) a few hours earlier, NORM asks if he could use it, too. Sure I say.

That was the day I met Norm, and lost the competition.
Worst day of my life. :D

Ok... I'm a newbie here.. so might Norm be...?

The Bose for Live music amplification is a newbie too... slow to be accepted by those of us from the world of tubes... but as a full-time player.. the Bose has not only made gigging even funner then it is, but eaiser in terms of hauling gear around ...

What gear, specifically (item by item, please) do you use with your PODxtLive when you play (very specifically, which parts of the Bose system do you use)?

I was thinking of getting a Pod XT Pro, and a tube power amp, (maybe a Mesa 50/50), with the long footswitch.

But l haven't found anyware that has these things, what l'm worried about is, l find alot of people who use line 6, is that they have trouble cutting through a band. Also l'm not really fond of the "digital" sound you get from these amps. I haven't had much luck with amps the past year, l've gone through so many, l just don't know what to do anymore,

Oh well, let the hunt continue.

Scott.

I am sure these Bose things are great, but I think they will struggle getting guitar players to use them. I mean, most guys will only use valve amps! How loud do they go? As loud as a 100w 2x12"?

I think the bigger problem is perception. In my mind, Bose= overrated+overpriced.

Just my $0.02 :)

Tim, I have one of the Bose PAS systems (and I had a PodXTLive, but I just sold it...) and they do get loud. They are rated at 750W with a single bass system so they can really crank. They are a breeze to setup and the sound dispersion is really great.

I grew tired of the whole Pod thing - I like things really simple. The new Brian May AC30 - 1 knob - my kinda amp! I'm using my old MarkIV combo now, but I know some folks use a small amp mic'd into the PAS with great results as well.

Steve, definitely overpriced, but not really overrated - the PAS is a really nice unit...

Tim.. the Bose cuts through a loud band easily as Thin-Dave stated above. More then enough power to cut through a loud Band ... (because of all the headroom and 180-degree sound dispersion qualities... one doesn't have to play nearly as loud as usual ...)

SteveB... that's the typical response from most guys...

Here's the initial excerpt from a thread I started about my experience with the Bose... maybe this will make more sense to working guitarists as I am (but maybe not ;) )...
This thread has received over 8,000 hits since I posted it last year.... so read it objectively and see what ya think!

Being a full-time musician I have owned a bunch of gear throughout the years. Always in hopes that the most current purchase will be the end all. It seems as though it never is...

2004 was the year I decided to spend what I have to in order to have the best possible products relative to my situation... I'm active in 3 bands.... one a loud funk band, one a loud jazz-fusion group and the other a Tribal world beat with dancers situation,

So consequently... I've been through a '65 reissue Twin, a Mesa Boogie Lone Star, Roland JC-120 and a Vox Valvetronics Amp... All worked okay ... but here's my experience.

The Vox was never able to achieve the clarity of any of the other amps. For some reason, I guess most British amps breakup way too early for my musical style.... I prefer pristine clean (not almost clean) as the basis of my sound and the Valvetronics lacked a model for the JC-120 (which is my favorite clean sound). Plus, it's blackface models just could not stay clean at high volumes. Even with the built in boosting effects...

Not to mention that the Vox distortions did not sound good unless you maxed out the gain... and the overdrives always had too much of an edge for my taste.

I will admit however, that their Dumble models were the excellent exception. As they ended up being the only one's I used. However I still had to use an outside booster pedal to make them usable.

Oh, and in addendum ... the Vox wah-wah barely cut it... (the PODxt Live's Wah is perfectly funky..)

The '65 twin was very loud and had that wonderful Fender shimmer, but unfortunately broke up way too early... (maybe the normal twin stays clean longer...) Defeated my need to play funky rhythms loud and clear ... or take clean fusion-jazz solos without any breakup...

The Mesa Lone Star had a wonderful clean tone that seemed to even improve with volume... however, it's distortion was always just too hard sounding for me no matter how I EQ'd it... that's a lot of doe to spend for just a good tube clean sound. Yet, it does handle pedals well, but I need a lot of them for the funk school of playing.

So before I got the PAS and PODxt Live combination, the JC-120 with pedals was my functioning utility amp ... it's natural Stereo Chorus is the very best of any and it handles tube sounding pedals well, However, I still had to Max it out and sometimes that's just not enough to cut through a pumping band with a strongly present bass and pounding percussionists.

However, that was all before I found out about the 180 degree sound dispersion qualities of the PAS and the diverse possibilities of the PODxt Live... this new Line 6 product has blown away all my expectations.

I've never liked any Line 6 products before this one. Now I cannot stop giving it critical acclaim. It's cleans are wonderful and it's distortions-overdrives are everything one would except. The Vox doesn't even come close even though it has a 12AX7 in it. Don't be fooled by the tube feel facade ... the PODXL feels much better to my touch.

Maybe it's the combination of the 7 foot Pole and the black floorboard... but with the newly found sensation of both of these product's now performing with me on a regular basis...all my other gear is up for sale.

Here's a link to the rest of the thread (with many varied responses..) if curious...
