Hey Everyone,

Sweet thread! I like how you guys are taking the ball and running with it. Fail to prepare, prepare to fail...

Sure, I'll stab at that song. Let me practice it for a couple weeks and get back to you. :)

The Flying O'Learys are coming, so we've got TWO MORE DRUMMERS! Poor John needs a break every now and then. They're SherrySK8 and Hockey Puck on the forum.

Hey remember we're going to need time for the clinics/cocktail hour, the Forum Awards and dinner, so we should try to whittle the set list down a bit. I'm not too experienced in creating set lists, but with player changes and everything, that looks like a 9 hour set! :D

The Fabulous Flying O'Learys!!

5. As far as I know we have one drummer. John Ferraro is an AMAZING drummer. However if your song choices are drumline specific or full of stops and signature fills, we might need to check with him first. BP - anything to add here?

Hey Knuckleheads! Just spreading the news through the forum that Beth has recruited us; the husband and wife drum & Percussion team of Sherry Sk8 and Hockey Puck aka. "The Flying O'Learys" to spell off John Ferarro over the couple of days. So now, there is an increased drum presence on this forum (that's 3 now).

I left a post under Beth's Knucklehead Party thread with a link and some info on our background. Mike and I are the Canadian Reps for Music Man and are in working bands here in Victoria - comfortable in all styles yada yada so . . .

Feel free to contact us with any info on these setlists or charts - Solisbury Hill would be fun - I'll do my best Manu Katche but who gets to be Tony Levin?

Hey, I'll be real happy if I get a guitar player and singer for ANY of the songs I've put forth....I overdelivered in hopes of finding at least one connection. I often say that we all know 60 songs or so....it's just that we don't know the same 60 songs.

So far we've got one guitarist and one singer, but four bass players. Unfortunately neither the guitarist nor the singer have signed on for anything that three of the bass players have proposed.

So far it looks like it's SticksNStones on vocals, TNT on guitar and oddjob on bass, and that's all. I'm sure that'll change, though....I hope....

The list is a grab bag of ideas and suggestions thrown out by Knuckleheads for Knuckleheads to try and get at least a few Knuckleheads to agree on something.

The ones in green are ones that might actually be played. So as it stands right now there are 6 songs matched up out of this for our listening pleasure. There have a been a few offline match ups that I'm tacitly keeping track of for the time factor but as of right now it's gonna be a short night.....

Beth...I don't think this is the final Set List. I think Sigmunds Couch is asking everyone to email him the songs they know, so he can put people together. I think he is listing all the songs that everyone is capable of playing, so people can pair up with the ones that know their tunes. After everyone teams up with the ones that know there songs....I think Sigmund Couch will then post the final set list that will allot for the appropriate time limits. It's a good way match songs people are capable of playing and makes for a smoother jam, once it's all put together.:)

Open question for TNT and SticksNStones....

You guys have got Zep's "Moby Dick" listed.. . . . . . .
adouglas; yeah, I just threw up a variety of songs to give the other knucklehead players a possible wider selection of matches. Regarding the Moby Dick song, it's a song that the guitar and bass parrallel each other (which can be fun, and in addition, this song is not often heard!!) As far as the drum solo, that can be modified on the spot to a @10 sec solo and then just simply count us back in. I think John F. could have fun with it too. Again, just throwing out songs.:)

I could work up Tom Sawyer if necessary - that solo is the pinnacle for every CDN kid drummer from the 80's - but uh, John Ferarro will be there and he's the master of groove and yet the least "LOOK AT ME!!" drummer I've ever seen!:)

I'm more inclined to agree with Jack about keeping things simple:

Any band matchups on The Guess Who or The Barenaked Ladies?

John can solo...believe me.

'Hope I wasn't taken wrong BP. I know John is a awesome on solos! I meant that if I had to play Tom Sawyer in front of him, I'd feel pretty dumb - it's a pretty show offy tune and I don't think I could impress someone of his stature! lol.

We're looking to fill a support roll and when John wants a break, we'll just try to groove as well as we can and make sure all the Knuckleheads have a good time!

Back up Goalies

We're so stoked to be John Ferarros' back up goalies.

I just read BP's thread on playing live, and it has some good thoughts for preparing to jam and when playing in front of "serious cats." The point is, we'll all have fun!fun!fun! (I always do in Cali).

BTW Since we are bringing a percussion rig, someone may want to consider bands/songs that include percussion - Santana: Evil Ways, or Oye Coma Va are good jam tunes. Any Rolling Stones - Sympathy for the Devil has slightly dark words but a great riff to jam on.

Mike and I promise to restrain ourselves around the appies as long as you knuckleheads also promise not to double dip!:)
