I'd go with the Koa. You'll have something that not alot of other people will have. I'd take the Koa over the Bahama Blueburst or Emeraldburst any day.

yeah..I saw an Emerald one on eBay not too long ago...Very cool. The local Guitar Center has a BahamaBlue..it's a lot more 'muted' in person than in photos. Still a beautiful piece.....but not as vibrant to me as many photos make it seem.

I'd go for the Koa or that Poodles Plums one :)

btw, does the mahogany body in koa luke could produce the same great and bright single coil sound like what we have in the regular luke (alder body).. i am sure the alder body plays a big role on that.

i think one thing that really counts in luke is the bright and glassy sound of its single coil pick up

That's a good question... How do the single coils sound on the Koa? Pete?

OK... I decided to cancel the all neck rosewood order. I'm either gonna get a regular BFR or the Koa. I also have already paid for a regular BFR Luke, but had problems and after 2 months dealing with my dealer :)mad:), opted for a replacement. I'm trying to get my money back to order from another dealer who has one in stock... not getting too far with that one.

Can't I have both?

I'd go with the Koa option too. After all, the BFR with rosewood is not going to be too different to the existing BFR.

The Koa's look awesome and I'll bet they sound as good as they look.

After thrashing the Koa LUKE...

Here's the deal...

I have NEVER played a guitar that sounded more alive to my ears, and I have never been more inspired while playing a guitar. The KOA LUKE absolutely smokes anything I have ever played before. Yes, that includes the 20th Anny Silhouette, and I would love to take this one home with me but I can't. The ebony fretboard feels like heaven, and the clean tones are to die for, while the overdive tones are punchyouinthenads good!

I ran the Koa LUKE through my Soldano SLO-100 and recorded 2 tracks, clean and overdrive, over a backing track.

The intro clean is position 4, neck & middle single. The overdrive section is the bridge humbucker. The second clean section starts with the neck single, then switches to the middle single, then switches to position 2 - the middle single and bridge humbucker.

Enjoy the quickie!

Hands down, for me the KOA would be the one. KOA being the more exotic and rarer wood, is harder to come by and won't be around forever. In Martins, for instance, it is very rare and expensive. The best sounding acoustic I ever played was all solid KOA, the Steve Miller 00-37K SM. KOA acoustically is brighter and more articulate with very good sustain. It's clear as a bell. Don't know if this will mean much on a solid-bodied electric with EMG's. So, the other thing about KOA is it's beauty. And practically everyone chiming in here is commenting on it's beauty.
It is very aesthetically pleasing. Much more so than the other one.

OK, that's it from western CO...
