I gave up an HH Al (rosewood neck) to get my PDN L III (roasted). I totally loved them both. Can't go wrong with either; lookswise or tone. Honestly. I'm not able to sit here and say that theres this big tone difference. I can't really testify to that.
But, what Steve Lukather says makes the most sense and that is the roasted is more tolerant of climate change. Being in Minnesota, Land of extremes, I feel slightly more confident with a roasted neck. They are both beautiful.
