Either gold pickguard would be a great look, although the marbled one is my favorite. I went to Purdue(Go Boilers) before music school and Black and Gold are their colors so I'm really digging the color combo.

So the gold hardware is the LE? or is it a special black? I though MM already had a glass black.

Yeah, I went to University of Missouri, of course I have a Black and a Gold bass, so I already have that covered.

I can't even wrap my brain around visualizing this on a Bongo. Single H, here I come !?!

Since we're talking school colors here, what about Burnt Orange and Chicago Maroon?

Wow, I wasn't originally a fan of gold hardware either, but with that marbled gold pickguard it's looking pretty damn sweet! Gold frets may be an interesting idea, but apart from being super expensive I'd imagine the fret wear would get outta control. Looking forward to seeing what one of those puppies looks like "in the flesh" (well... in a photograph anyway).

If brass was used for the frets, they'd be gold and wouldn't be too terribly expensive, material-wise. Of course, with the gold hardware and the changing pickguard, I didn't even notice if the bass had frets, really.....

my interpretation is that the LE is black with gold hardware.. i.e. "both", not one or the other. :)

Brass is way way too soft for frets and oxidizes like mad you would have green frets that were chewed to death by roundwounds.
Yeah, but the green would complement the gold hardware nicely, don't ya think? :D :D :D Besides, that bass would be like one of Nigel Tufnel's "Don't even look at it!" guitars. Never played...enshrined forever!

My mistake. I thought Warwick used to use brass for their frets. But, in all fairness, I haven't really spent too much time looking at Warwicks. :D

EDIT: After a little research, it turns out that it was probably copper fretwire. But, I can certainly see how it would be cost-prohibitive. Retail for a standard neck of nickel fretwire is listed at $6.50. The copper fretwire is listed at $24.50.

I am not an advocate of gold fretwire. As has been quoted here many times, "There is a fine line between clever and stupid." :D

Never been a gold hardware fan, but that's just me...

I will admit, though the gloss black with gold hardware is classy combination......... :)
Maybe that's cuz it looks so much like my practice mule on my desk here at work, a Yamaha Motion II :)

What's this stuff I've heard only hints about, "ceramic frets"? About all I know so far is "wears almost forever" and "not cheap". Anything you've ever looked into?

I meant to ask, will that bass come with a white feather boa and a big-ass purple hat with a peacock plume poking out? I ask merely for information...
And platform shoes with the goldfish swimming around inside them... :D
