What would you guys/gals like to see for our next Limited Edition? What finishes would you like to see? (excluding Blue Dawn or any discontinued color)
Thanks,
Scott

A vintage reissue would go down well. Muted bridge of course with Maple neck. Although the capstan wheel truss has to be the best invention since the electric Bass itself, a bullet truss would top things off nicely.

Colours below were never EB finishes as far as I know, but would suit a reissue....just a bit of this and that in a can....a few hundred gallons....can't go wrong

The first is Inca Silver, slightly yellowed to a bronze colour due to a nitro finish (MM colour option 1977). The final result looks good.

The second is Seafoam Green (never a MM option but has a vintage flavour).

Black and Gold have always been a nice combination. So, how about a Medallion Gold Bongo with black hardware and an ebony fingerboard with matching head stock. Fretless would be KILLER!!!! :D

Honey burst with same fretless ebony fingerboard and black hardware would also ROCK!!! :p

Id have to lean towards the vinatge type colors, maybe a sea foam green or even a sonic blue would be nice, maybe a creamy aged looking olympic white.

I'm gonna go with the "Yellow Submarine" , a nice deep Lambourghini/Ferrari Canary yellow with the bit of sparklr that's in the Desert Gold finish. This way EBMM will have the whole traffic light theme nailed: Radiance RED, YELLOW Submarine, Envy GREEN ..... I do think it would look rather sweet if it is a rich enough canary yellow.

PS mark me down for a fretless H/SC/Piezo Bongo5 in Yellow Submarine ASAP!!!!!!! :D

I should have been specific, our next Limited Edition is already set. I was asking for general ideas. Great job so far. Some of you are close to what we are going to come out with. Keep the ideas coming!
Thanks Again!

Okay, okay, seriously, then.

(I won't even mention "green" or "sparkle", although now that I already have, can I keep going?)

I think the "vintage" reissue might appeal to a certain segment of the market. People yap and bark about the differences between the pre-EB basses and the modern basses - I think, personally, having owned quite a few examples of each, that it's mostly measurements in the twilight zone. But I do think they would sell.

Look at the Fender reissues, the 62 Jazz, that sort of thing - very popular. Hell, I have one, plus a Custom Shop 64 Jazz.

So that would be the first thing I'd consider, the vintage reissue Stingray. Slab body, sunburst and/or natural, two band only, string thru body, three-bolt neck attachment, maybe even break out the old logo. The one concession I would make to the modern era is offering both maple and rosewood boards.

The limited edition colors are a great idea. You don't have to re-tool the line to just paint the things. We, the buying public, get something a little extra, something you won't see hanging on the wall at Bubba's House of Basses and Scotch Tape Emporium, and you guys don't have to do much different.

You boys are purdy smart.

On the list I titled "Things I Hear All The Time", subtitled "I Wish People Would Leave Me Alone About This", there are of course specific things people want on specific models.

First thing that comes to mind is a Stingray 5 with an oval pickguard and metal control plate, more like the Stingray 4. This one I hear so often that I hate to even bring it up, but what can you do? I shut up about it a long time ago, but every time I change out a pickguard on a fiver, I do notice all that nice wood that's being covered up. The question is - if you did this, and it would be more involved than just the paint thing, would you sell enough to justify it? You got me.

And someone mentioned it above, I'm sure, but some sort of natural and/or transparent finish Bongo - again, I don't know how many of these would actually sell, but it's on my list. I have tried to explain the sustainable resource concept and how heavy the electronics package is, how the basswood was the best choice in terms of both tone and weight, and of course how it's not exactly great looking wood....so I suppose you'd have to do an ash or alder body, and God knows what the final weight would be, especially on, say, a double humbucker fiver. But it comes up, so now I've unburdened myself.

Oh yeah - Stingray 4 with a three way switch. And a 2 pickup Stingray.

What else? Other than those things, I think mostly it's the discontinued colors, which we know have been discontinued for good reason, but hey, everyone has their own ideas about sparkly things!

Okay, the coffee is running low, but there you have it.

You going to keep us informed on what's coming down the road?

i would have to say the bovine bongo, or a stingray with two humbuckers. not a sabre re-issue, but a stingray with a neck bucker, and a 3 way switch to toggle between the two, not a 5. my other idea would be the enitre sparkle burst finish line, i know you said no to that all ready, but i think for a limited edition run bringing back all of them in their entirety(no funky black headstocks) might get you some money. just a thought. a string through ray, bongo, or sterling(just for those who thinks it makes a difference, or just want to be different). ehh, my thoughts.
