If we are talking about the same guitar the site when translated by BabelFish says,
John [petorushi] the fact that you have used as 1 of the main guitars, this " Dargie Delight " is even with the world tour which accompanies album 'Black Clouds & Silver Linings which become the 10th work'.
I wonder if it that means it was his. I know we have people on the forum who could give a better translation, perhaps they'll chime in. Either way, they're just inlays, I would like the option to not have his inlays on the BFR's.

I thought that was the case too but why would that guitar be on that site with a price? Doesn't make any sense to me.

Most likely because it was Petrucci's. And even if it wasn't does it really matter if Japan got a special run of Dargie's? It's not as if the Dargie's made available to us are made out of wicker and drift wood. They are still amazing instruments even if they don't have someone else's initials on the 1st fret.

That is cheap for a BFR in Japan. I highly, highly doubt it is John's.

24th, are you by any chance able to translate the text? The Babelfish translation (which I assumed was not that good) made it seem like the text beneath the guitar was saying the guitar was owned by JP, I'd love to know what it actually says.

I'm just going to do a very small bit of deductive reasoning and say... obviously John does not have the ONLY one with those inlays, and thus there is apparently something available in Japan that is not available here. Unless that photo is doctored which I don't suspect that it is.

Pretty common for Japan to get different things (like bonus tracks, etc.) Things cost a lot of money over there.

Japan is the biggest customer of EBMM outside the USA and they do get/do special runs (ie Axis EX in the past and pinkpurst Axis just recently) so this is probably to fit that market. Japan is cool

Oh man...so whats the price in US $$$ converted from yen?
Rich

As of the close of the market yesterday, $1.00 = ¥91.38, so they are both well over $5000.

It's true that the Japanese do get some cool stuff in general. I collected Japanese 1st pressing CD's for many years, though I sold most of it to fund my EBMM's. Aside from the discs often coming with bonus tracks, they have great packaging, cool extra's and the booklets were usually printed on nice thick glossy paper, especially the 1st pressings.

This is true but the general markup for these guitars in Japan in huge, so that is generally in line with what they'd charge normally, so I highly doubt that it would be JP's... instead likely just a BFR DD2 with standard inlays.

24th, I already conceded the fact that I was obviously wrong about it belonging to JP when I found the 2nd site also selling one, hence my earlier post
I am most definitely 100% wrong. Did a little research and here is another Japanese site selling a JP DD2 with JP inlays and the BFR inlay on the 12 fret.

I figured they were a special run. I just think they look better with the JP inlays since its his signature guitar. I think it would've been cool to at least have that as an option while ordering. No biggie though, the DDII's are still awesome, hence why I have two.

It would have been nice. I remember Dargin saying they had originally tried using "smoked mother of pearl" for the JP inlays and couldn't get them to come out consistently. So they went with the same inlays as the rest of the DD2 line.

If you look closely at JP's DD2, his has the smoked mother of pearl. They're darker than the normal inlays that seem to be on these ones in Japan.
