Hey all, I know since I do not yet own a musicman guitar that I probably shouldn't be posting here, but I just have to know....

I'm torn b/w picking up a Y2D, or a original Steve Morse model in the upcoming months. Other than the obvious difference in controls (I like the Y2D better for that)The original Steve Morse model has a lot more color options :D

Is there an older post with pictures of the Steve Morse guitar in various colors/pickguard combinations? If so can you point me to it? If not, is it possible to have some of you post pictures in this thread?

Any help would be greatly appreciated. Thank you :)

Hello and welcome aboard

I am a proud owner of a classic Morse (blueburst). Click on my signature if you want to see it.
You can check the Steve Morse owner club. There are some pictures here.

Wait a few minutes, I am sure there will be a lot of pictures soon ;)

Enjoy the forum

They're both great guitars, you can't really go wrong either way.

If the switching is an issue at all, go for the Y2D.

Thanks guys!

I suppose the best of both worlds would be the Y2D pickup config, and the color options of the originals (the white and black ones in SMOC are sweet!). But that just isn't possible.

I"m looking forward to seeing more :)

Welcome to the forum!!!

Do you have any preferred colours beyond the black? (my fave)
Be patient and I'll hook you up with some pics.

I'd like to see as many colors as possible. The "olive gold" looks really cool!

There is a forumite with an awesome looking white Morse. Hopefully he will post pics soon.

Welcome to the club Homerj. You don't need a musicman guitar to be a member, but if you stick around long enough, you will eventually own one or two or five....

That's actually a great observation to make. The selection layout on the original Morse was wayyyy to complicated for me (coming from 3 way on a Les Paul) so I opted for the Y2D as a near purchase. The switch controls are more linear on the Y2D (As MOrse explained at the CLinic last week) and is definitely more user friendly.

But yea, much more color options on the original numero 1. I LOVE Olive Gold, original blue burst, and white! Beautiful options, hopefully someone will get some up here.

See, Steve. I like to have more switching options. The more sounds I can get from a guitar, the better. Because of that, I'm partial to the original Morse, but I like the finishes on the SMY2D better.

Olive Gold is an awesome color and the picture that was linked does it no justice.

Ahhh the dilemma!

Well it's fair to say that the Y2d has a much more vibrant and patterened finish, where the original has more solid color finishes.
