I have no idea what you're talking about, EMGs always work great for me. (tone-destruction?)

Many people claim that they only give their own sound, not letting the
tonal qualities of the guitar shine through. These cork-sniffers only use passives because they sound so 'sterile' and 'character-less.' I just wondered if you had any experience remotely like that.

I guess whatever you read on the internet should be taken with an ocean's worth of salt. I agree, they do work great.

Luke,

How have you found Don Ramseys new ly patented Linear Tremolo? I believe you credited him on Falling in between? Are there any plans to endorse this trem on future EBMM Luke signature models or will it purely be for retro fit purposes only?

Think Mr Vai likes it too......

Out of the 100s of artists you've worked with since the 70s as a session musician, who, (if its possible to discern?) has been the best to work with, and who has been the worst (you don't have to answer that). What is your favorite session recording or top three at the very least! Me and Ali from the forum here (who incidently got me into you and your music about 2-3 years ago) have been trying to catalogue and get hold of every track you've ever played on....think we're 2/3 or 3/4 of the way there! (Anoraks!)

How do you feel that your playing, tone, technique, ambition, motivation has evolved through the years.....maybe decade by decade?

Finally (maybe!) who has/have been your major influences since you started and who influences you today?

1 Favor......hurry up and release that El Grupo album!

Thanks for the opportunity!

Hey Luke, first off l wanna say thank you for finally coming back to Australia, it's kick ass man, l'm going to both Melbourne and Sydney shows, l hope you enjoy your stay in my country.

How do you go about writing your songs? A vocal melody pops in your head? or do you purposely sit down and write a song, when it's time to write a song for a new Toto album or solo album. Do you sacrifice one thing for another? such as, cut a guitar part for a vocal melody, l guess what l was trying to ask, is one particular thing important for you regarding a song, Vocal melody, killer guitars, structure.

In regards to your singing, l know now you use a warm up tape, but in the early days, when you where just starting to sing, how did you develop your singing? how did you make it strong? anything you recommend l do to strengthen my vocals? and overcome my insecurity of singing?

Thanks for the oppurtunity to ask you some questions, see you on the 19th and 21st of May.

God bless,

Scott.
looking forward to Oz, as far as writing songs there's no one particular way i do it. I just do it, it comes.

singing, that's much harder to explain because it's not like you have a fret in your throat. so you have to learn to do it right or you sing your throat into hamburger. I suggest getting a good vocal coach.

see you in oz.

Hi Steve,

I watched a video on your website from the recording session (I think for song "one in a million", sorry if it is the wrong title). I've seen you were using a POD 2.0 for the recording and your tone was great. Do you often use it on sessions?

2) also regarding the same video, you were playing some very cool licks there, smelled like Eric Johnson or Jeff Beck. Were they an influence for you?

thank you BP and Steve,

Philip
I don't quite recall using a POD. sometimes I just use whatever's lying around.

I love all these guys, I am not worthy of comparison.

I don't have any of those problems whatsoever, but i guess it's a matter of personal taste.

well just rent a video of your favorite player's lessons, and start doing what they do your way. I recommend Carlton and Ford. that should keep you busy for the next 5 years.

Steve,

Thanks for answering my questions. I hope Swink is doing well, I too have a pug (Peko) and she is hilarious, although the snoring and snorting makes it tough to sleep sometimes :p

BP and Casey,

Thanks for setting this awesome Q & A and taking time on your weekend to take care of us Forum lunatics.
