I don't have a Q for ya, Luke, but I wanted to share a true story about how we found our home... My wife and I were looking for a place to call our own in a very particular neighbourhood up here in Ottawa, and we were driving our realestate agent crazy - the bastidge was going nuts trying to meet our 4 zillion requirements sticking to this small area, and we'd seen 36 houses over a couple weeks and rejected them all as unsuitable... So he calls us on Thanksgiving and says "I got a house for you to see that hits the market next week, but I know the sellers and they say you can get a viewing today if we hurry." So we rush over to the place and we know right away that it's pretty close to what we're looking for... and as we're cruising through the house, we pass through the living room and there on the end table is a picture of you with the current owner that was snapped in Vegas where he'd managed to wrangle a backstage pass to one of your shows... and I looked at the picture and pointed it out to my wife and say "This wraps it. This is the one!" and you know, it was...

And here we are a year and a half later, and I'm telling you we love this house!

So, like, you were a sign! ;)

Rock on... :D

Steve,

Who were your influences when you first started out? And who are they now?

Okay, real questions.

1. Who's YOUR favorite guitar player? I mean, who, when you listen to him/her, makes you think, "Ah, that's just perfect"?

2. Why weren't the Tubes a big hit?

3. Have you ever worked with Todd Rundgren? If so, what was the project and was it fun?

4. If I were a carpenter, and you were my lady.....wait, I'll ask you that in private.

Here's another question for you Steve.

How long was it before you decided on EMG pickups and what were the factors that weighed in your decision?

Thanks,

Sir Luke,

On a related note to the previous post (PugNinjas'), when using different EMG-equipped Lukes, can you tell a difference in sound between them? In other words, do you notice the alleged EMG tone-destruction where every guitar with the same pickups sounds the same?

I have had wildly different results with EMGs in different axes, but seemingly no one will ever corroborate my opinion that the wood and construction still matters.

Thanks,
-James

Hey Luke, first off l wanna say thank you for finally coming back to Australia, it's kick ass man, l'm going to both Melbourne and Sydney shows, l hope you enjoy your stay in my country.

How do you go about writing your songs? A vocal melody pops in your head? or do you purposely sit down and write a song, when it's time to write a song for a new Toto album or solo album. Do you sacrifice one thing for another? such as, cut a guitar part for a vocal melody, l guess what l was trying to ask, is one particular thing important for you regarding a song, Vocal melody, killer guitars, structure.

In regards to your singing, l know now you use a warm up tape, but in the early days, when you where just starting to sing, how did you develop your singing? how did you make it strong? anything you recommend l do to strengthen my vocals? and overcome my insecurity of singing?

Thanks for the oppurtunity to ask you some questions, see you on the 19th and 21st of May.

God bless,

Scott.

Hi Steve,

I watched a video on your website from the recording session (I think for song "one in a million", sorry if it is the wrong title). I've seen you were using a POD 2.0 for the recording and your tone was great. Do you often use it on sessions?

2) also regarding the same video, you were playing some very cool licks there, smelled like Eric Johnson or Jeff Beck. Were they an influence for you?

thank you BP and Steve,

Philip
