WOW!!!

Some things I noticed
You stayed with the Luke body shape (bevel cuts) instead of radius rounding it like the 20th SiLO. Discussing the 20th protos with Luke and BP I recall that they liked that feature. The fact that the maple cap didn't cover the entire front was secondary to BP compared to retaining the body shape. Luke just thought it was cool looking.
I think the bevel cuts and the top on this guitar lend itself better to the luke than the 20th protos.

There is no veener / binding between the maple cap and the alder. Again for this guitar I like that look better. For the 20th's and its' radiused edges it looks great there.

I remember how passionate Dargin was about getting some mahognay into the 20th's. The word compromise implies somebody or both parties gave up something. The mahog block (I think) works better than each individule plan. Something good needs to be said about teamwork.

The transparant Luke Blue would have been cool but like you said, this is for tone evaluation. No PUP rings.

I am really looking forward to hear what Luke says about this guitar's sound what with the EMG's and all.

Because of the collectors status and rarity of the 20th's, I am really not inclined to change the pups in those guitars. But with the tone wood combination and EMG's I might need one of these too.

Luke is gonna have a hard time not liking this guitar.

Has Steve Morse had a chance to play a 20th SiLO?

Very little conversation has happened other than to give luke a playable alder mahog maple version of his guitar. there is one ply under the maple that didnt show up in my 5 am shots. We didnt discuss the bevels at all. it matches the luke bevels perfectly but the three woods make it look more pronounced

THis is just keeping you diehards in the loop....We should hear from Luke on Sunday with his thoughts...

Wait...I could swear Norm asked BP not to speak directly to him through the forum. :p

BTW, I love the look of it. Hoping something similar appears as production in the future.

It looks great me thinks. Thanx for the pics. I also was thinking what a maple top Luke would look like, but my visual imagination is not as great as I would like it to be. Honestly, I would trade in my CBP Luke I have now for that. And I would really like to see this in that blue that you planned BP at some point. However that amber looks Great on it :D.

Even if I don't remember that it doesn't sound like a bad idea.
So Keith, At the Biff Babies All Star Bash on Dec 28th 2005 when BP and I were walking out to my car so I could show him my cheesy personal plate (NORMM (the two m's are a tribuite to how much I love Music Man guitars)) I remember* telling BP that I liked the radius cut proto because the maple cap covered the entire face of the guitar. Then I thought* BP responded with something to the order of, The Silhouette has bevel cuts. That's what the shape of the guitar is. To which I recall* responding with something along the lines of, What if you made the maple top thicker? That's when I remember* BP putting me in my place with a comment like, You let us design the guitar. Then I showed BP the cheesy personal license plate and BP whistled for the driver to come around and pick up the guests / artists. At that point I remembered thinking* how nice it was of BP to share a moment with me on this very exciting and busy night for him and how good it made me feel*. That was a fun night wasn't it Keith?
* = But I could be wrong.

Why is it so hard for me to be nice? I really am trying.

Any way I think (and this time I'm not wrong) that Luke is pretty and I bet Luke will really like it.

Thanks for sharing again, BP! It's so cool how we get to see these guitars before the artists like with JP's.

Man, if these alder/mahogany/maple guitars make it into production, I may consider myself blessed that I didn't have the money now for LE JPs, DDs, 20th Silos, etc. That'll mean more money that I have for these hybrids! :D

Man, it would have been cool to see that in blue like BP hoped to make the guitar. Hopefully, Luke will like it, and we'll get to see production versions in blue. :D

Mmm...imagine Pacific Blue Burst or something along those lines. :drool
