Imagine the difference between your old MD and a BFR![]()
I prefer the no frills JPs (only a matching headstock) and am awaiting my second one. It will be interesting to hear/feel the difference between the two. First and foremost, the d-sonic in the new one will set them apart, but I wonder which will have the magic despite the upgraded pickup... The older MD is magical enough. I can't imagine the new one being any better, but I'm sure it is possible!
I think you are going to love the tone of the D-Sonic. It's a big difference to my ear. Sounds more liquid and warm with a smooth sizzle ("brown" if you are an EVH nut).
zzzzzzzzzzz . . . buy an Axis already. . .![]()
+1...LOL
The saddles are different. Personally I find the vintage saddles brighter than the piezo/solid saddles.Has anyone found that slight tonal shift between piezo & standard trem Lukes also?
Funny you mention that - I am sending the fully loaded Mystic Dream back and using the credit as a deposit on a BFR John Petrucci F-1 in Bahama Blue Burst
Very Expensive ... but you only live once eh?![]()
Agreed, my JP7 is now like an extension of my body. As much as I want a BFR and a LE07 I wouldnt sell my guitar or use it as credit.
I am not completely hooked on the D-Sonic either... I think it is simply too fat for my liking. Going from a Breed to a Steve's Special on my 6-string beater actually gave it a new lease on life - maybe I just need to get the spandex out of the closet, wear my perm with pride and face the fact that I grew up in a time when Philip Michael Thomas and widdly guitars were actually hipInteresting comment. I still haven't fallen in love with the D-sonic, even though it's a nice pickup. Maybe it's because my old JP has so much mojo in it?![]()
(Today I ordered a Steve's Special to possibly toss in the bridge slot of my Dargie JP)
