Imagine the difference between your old MD and a BFR :D

Funny you mention that - I am sending the fully loaded Mystic Dream back and using the credit as a deposit on a BFR John Petrucci F-1 in Bahama Blue Burst :p

Very Expensive ... but you only live once eh? :p

I prefer the no frills JPs (only a matching headstock) and am awaiting my second one. It will be interesting to hear/feel the difference between the two. First and foremost, the d-sonic in the new one will set them apart, but I wonder which will have the magic despite the upgraded pickup... The older MD is magical enough. I can't imagine the new one being any better, but I'm sure it is possible!

I think you are going to love the tone of the D-Sonic. It's a big difference to my ear. Sounds more liquid and warm with a smooth sizzle ("brown" if you are an EVH nut).

Interesting comment. I still haven't fallen in love with the D-sonic, even though it's a nice pickup. Maybe it's because my old JP has so much mojo in it? :D

(Today I ordered a Steve's Special to possibly toss in the bridge slot of my Dargie JP)

I have 4 JP Fully loaded JP's and they all sound immensely different. So different that it is nie on one hand and so different that it is sad on the other. Build quality is great, all that stuff is fine but I have never had this much variance between the same model by my other guitars. Since I am a silver lining type guy, I will say I just got a lot more tones I wasn't expecting ;)

Jealous. I wish I could do that, but I've already waited all this time, I wouldn't be able to handle 8 or 9 more months haha.

I Love both of my JP6'S...I have a Black sparkle with original pups and a Rad Red with the d sonic pup both are very different, but love every tone each one gives me...I would never get rid of these guitars ever....Like Rob said these EBMM guitars are magic, and i assume they get a touch of it right before they leave the factory.

Agreed, my JP7 is now like an extension of my body. As much as I want a BFR and a LE07 I wouldnt sell my guitar or use it as credit.

Yeah, there's no telling how mojo gets in a guitar. Cheap or expensive, there's just no telling. But I do think a player can put his own mojo in a guitar. To get really funky, maybe mojo is also a result of the particular builder, and where his head was at that day.

My blue silo has all kinds of mojo. Tone just blooms from it.

I am not completely hooked on the D-Sonic either... I think it is simply too fat for my liking. Going from a Breed to a Steve's Special on my 6-string beater actually gave it a new lease on life - maybe I just need to get the spandex out of the closet, wear my perm with pride and face the fact that I grew up in a time when Philip Michael Thomas and widdly guitars were actually hip ;)

Cheers
