Welcome, Peter -
Just got my little mark II a couple of days ago, and had my first gig last night - wow! This amp is a lot of fun! Run through the 15" cab, what a sound!

Initially at GC in Towson, I was thinking about the small 210 cab, but when I heard this 15, I loved it. I told the sales rep I didn't think I could lift it - he just grinned and said, "try it!" I couldn't believe how light it is. Tommy just laughs because I look so funny carrying this great big speaker cab that looks like it should weigh a ton - I can easily lift it into my truck. The amp itself fits the milk crate I carry cables and patch cords in.

I'm just looking forward to the weekend to start playing with the VLE and VPF knobs........:D :D :D

Great to hear Sharon!

:D

Woooo for Sharon! :)

I'm after a mini-rig myself- just can't decide on cab size - have decided to put off purchase of new bass as I think I deserve some proper amplification! :D

Can't wait to see some pics of it and your Bongo! Talk about a good combo :)

I've been in bed most of the day recovering from a hang-over, but then the GC called! My LittleMark II came!!!

I just got thru with about an hour with it, the "magic knobs" are indeed magic!

I don't even know what "VPF" and "VLE" mean, so I'm going out to Staples and get some orange tape for my label maker and print "Magic Knob 1" and Magic Knob 2".

I started with a Bergantino HT112, sounded killer!

Then I hooked it up to an Ampeg 810e, it will knock the breath out of you! (Though it looks so funny on top of that bigass cab.)

But a real smooth sounding combo was the LittleMark II with an Ampeg B-15-S, (a satellite cab to the B-15-R fliptop), but had to be careful, I don't think that cab is rated anywhere near 500 watts, still though a great sound!

My studio is in such a mess I can't get to the Ashdown ABM 410.

I tested all the cabs with my trusty Sterling, and my Bongo fiver single H, both loved the LittleMark and I do too!

So I took my littlemarkII to my blues/rock trio gig tonight. I decided to leave the Ashdown at home, and threw caution to the wind. I was digg'n the lm2 at home, but we all know that things can sound very different on the gig. At first, I was using a healthy dose of the VLE w/ my single H Bongo 5. The sound was good and punchy, and cut like a knife but I was looking for a little something extra. For the second set, I turned off the VLE completely and bumped the bass a tad on the Bongo. Hot Damn, that did the trick. The amp came alive all of a sudden and things just clicked. I switched to my HH for the third set and we tore the roof off that place. Let me tell you, the littlemarkII is LOUD. I now believe that the lm2 is the best deal in bass amplification. 500 watts(did I mention it's Loud?) a little over 6 lbs, tone for days all for $599!? The hype is real folks, and the future is here: Markbass!

Andrew,

Did you keep the EQ on the LMII totally flat at the gig? That's what I've been finding I like and I've read alot of other people's experience is the same. Only twiddle with magic buttons.

It's sort of funny how there can be a lot of hype about a gazillion band parametric EQ on some amps, and an EQ that I rarely touch on the LMII.

BP did say somewhere that'd he'd have a Markbass amp with only 4 knobs.

hey kids you keep comparing all of your amps to the little mark 2 which is fabulous but they make bigger and more powerful ones that compete quite favorably.....There is one that has soooo many knobs with super parametric eq that I get dizzy

I was talking to Jack today and said that my dream mark bass amp would have four knobs...Master volume, Volume, Vle and VPF ( I srtill cant explain what they do even thought I have been told a thousand times) those two knobs are magic tone dust...

I would use the eq on my bass and be happy...I m serious

SD 800 Boys thats the Mark Bass amp to Get, Listen to Poppa, Daddy knows Best.

It was loud in Texas. It will be loud anywhere.

Would anyone be able to explain to me in layman's terms exactly what the difference is between the Traveller 210P and the Standard 102HF? I know the size is a big factor, but aside from that I'm struggling to see the advantages of one over the other?

I only ask as I plan to get a 2x10 cab and was wondering which would suit the LMII better.

Thanks guys :)

So, a day after my first gig with the littlemarkII, I took it to it's first recording session. My band was brought in to the Sweetwater studio(www.sweetwater.com) to record some sound samples for a podcast for Budda Amplification(www.Budda.com), as Brad our guitarist/lead vocals recently signed an endorsement deal with them. Sweetwater will soon be carrying the Budda product line, so they wanted to bring us in to do some promotion. I brought my Bergantino cabs, my ashdown head, the littlemarkII head, and my HHp Bongo5. Turns out, all I would need was my Bongo and the littlemark. The engineer had me play for about 15 seconds before he cut me off and said "What is that!? That sounded amazing right away. I barely had to adjust my settings". Once the other guys had their sound check, we went to work on several tunes that will probably end up on our album when we start recording early next year. We knocked 'em out, took a listen and I could not believe how punchy and full the markbass sounded w/out any cabs involved. Everyone was raving about how much tone that little box put out. I will be sure to let ya'll know when the podcast is done, or when we get some of the clips back from the session so you can get an ear on 'em. I am SOLD on the markbass/bongo combination.

the standard gets you about 5Hz more which in that part of the audio spectrum is a big deal. (it goes a little deeper by about 1/4 of an octave) To put it in perspective, if I were playing a 5string or want a more old school thump sound, I'd be more interested in the standard.

I've heard the traveler by itself. It sounds a little thin in the low end compared to a 12" or 15" cabinet but I like that sound.
