.. LMIII or Classic 450 for a StingRay?

I'd be ordering online... unable to actually play the head.

Thoughts?

I've never seen nor heard a TCE amp. I think they are more known for their FX. However, the LMIII's predecessor, the LMII, is a proven performer. From this I may infer that the III is just as good.

Never played TC stuff, but I did own and gig a 112H Combo (LMIII head), loud.. very loud and punchy!.. But very clean, doesn't colour your sound, very hi fi (good for some people, not so good for me!).

Great amp though, very powerful and clean.

The TC head is very nice. It sounds great with plenty of headroom, but it's features are what really set it apart. The LM is pretty straightforward by comparison and it's tone suits me better. So it comes down to your priorities.

I prefer TC electronic amp heads, but I'm a techno freak!

If You are not interested in high tech and like more plug'n'play stuff, than avoid TC! ;)

Keko got it right! The RH450 is very tweakable, and WOWWWW does it match well with Rays, etc. I tried it with a Big Al SSS I had on loan and it was just awesome.

The LM2/3 is a fantastic amp, and very easy to use. Plug, play.

If you want an amp that does it all with BAGS of power, the RH450 is king at the moment. If you want the same thing but cheaper and less features, the Classic 450.

If you want a more neutral and very clean tone, the LM3.

I have the LM3 and RH450 and l like them both for what they do. The RH450 is very very slick though.

TC RH450 (not the classic) is a fantastic amp!!! What I do not like are the TC cabs. If you compare the heads at your dealer, try the TC with an other cab, i.e. TecAmp *yummie*

I'm looking at the Classic 450 and LMIII (in my area the RH450 is quite a bit more expensive and out of my price range).

Any reason why the classic (sound or reliability-wise) is not as "fantastic" as the RH450? The classic is more in my price range.

Dont underestimate the RS210 and RS212. Ive heard some clips against Bergantino cabinets that are twice the price and they sound in the same ballpark.

Nice and light, also, without being neo.

I'm loving my Ray5 with a Mark Bass F1 head.

I have the amp EQ all flat, the VLE at about 10 o clock, the VPF at 12 and then just adjust the bass eq from there. Mids all the way down, treble off a little, bass flat and play at the neck for a lovely thick low sound.

Mids off, bass and treble up a little for a monster slap tone.

All in there.

(I'm using a TecAmp S210 cab)

Oops, I did not meant it that way... Never tested a Classic but I own a RH450. Actually it is one of the first ones when they were called RebelHead. What I would not like to miss are the programming features and the possibilities to tweak the compressor and eq range settings. This is not possible with the Classic so I would prefer the RH450...

I beg to differ. I tried many cabs, mostly 1x12's with my LMIII and ended up with two of the TC 2x10 cabs. I'm one happy bunny. YMMV.

Ok... I finally made a decision to go with Markbass after a long complicated process of shopping and ordering.

I live in Northern Canada, the nearest Markbass dealer is 14 hours away, and shipping to my area is expensive. Markbass gear is also very expensive here in Canada as well, so couple that with shipping costs to the North and you can see my dilemma.

Musiciansfriend currently has a "no tax or duty" for Canadian orders offer, so I ordered a Little Mark III head. I've never played one, but I'm confident from what I've read here that it is a good match for my StingRay.

Two questions:
So, I was thinking of a pair of Traveler cabs (210 and 115 or two 115's). I play roots rock and country. What are the best, smaller Markbass cabs?

I've never ordered from Musiciansfriend, so I don't know what to expect. I notice that they ship all Ernie Ball/Music Man products to Canada (NOT good... the GAS is kicking in already! :). What have your experiences with Musiciansfriend been like?

MF is highly reputable, never had a problem (I just assume everyone knows they are owned by Guitar Center).

You get mixed reviews on the MB cabs on places like TB. Nearly universal love for the amps, and the LMIII is a great choice. I own the LM Tube myself.

I once had the Traveler 210 and paired it with the Traveler 115. I liked that pair a lot. Each cab is lightweight, and it gives you lots of versatility, if you don't need the 15, you don't have to bring it along. The 210 was great for practice or really small rooms, but did not exactly have the fullest of sound I was looking for in a 210, so I recently upgraded to the Bergantino HS210. I still have the 115 around in case I play a bigger room, or really want to rattle the floor. I haven't had the need to upgrade that one... yet.

Lots of good cabs out there today. Too bad you are far away from stores, so you could test some before you buy.

The one MB product I wish I could try is the new club 212 (I forget the full official name) 4ohm cab. I just think it might be the cats meow for most of the rooms I get to play in. But I haven't seen one in any GC store...yet.

I have a Markbass combo with a 12 inch and a tweeter and an extension cab with again a 12 inch and tweeter. Nice all round setup that covers all styles. I am happy.

But if I was to make a different choice it would be LM111 head, 115 cab and a 210 cab. I think that would be killer.
