A friend took me to see the German band Rammstein in Cardiff last night. I'd never heard of them, being more of a jazz/blues kind of guy myself. Anyway they were hilarious, best way to describe them is Metallica meets the Village People with flamethrowers, yes real flamethrowers. Very theatrical very heavy. So why am I telling you guys? Well after the second number, just as I was deciding weather to enjoy myself or not, the guitarist wearing lederhosen swapped his Les Paul for a white sparkle Axis. I was hooked from that point on. Later he changed to a metallic grey Axis with white binding. My only concern was when all the mike stands were set alight. He had those pretty guitars awful close to the flames.....

Anyone else seen these guys?

I didn't realize that Rammstein were still together. I haven't heard them mentioned in years. My brother used to listen to that band. I've not heard a single song...

Check them out guys.

I'd say you have to see them live to fully appreciate them, the albums do rock in a strange tutonic/camp kind of way but its the stage show that makes it. They boil their keyboard player in a huge pot which they heat ...you guessed it.... with a flamethrower, poor bastard was smoking when he climbed out! They reminded me a bit of the Tubes...

Apparently they're really big on the metal scene in the USA.

Whatever you think of the music though you can't fault the guitarists taste in fine instruments!

They are big over here at home. I don´t care too much but their lastest video was a classic one.
Oh yeah and it was done by my cousin who owns the video production company in berlin.

Thanks Mick that was fantastic!!! Great concept, very funny and just a hint of girl on girl action. Come to think of it thats a great formula for life in general. I can take or leave the flamethrowers.

We have refurbished all of Paul's guitars about 3 years ago when they came through the U.S. They were completely rusted all over. We had to replace pickups, tremolo, all the hardware and tuners.

The guys must sweat a lot.

One Axis has a cool L.e.d. system in the fretboard that lights up on stage during the set. Rammstein had this installed in Germany before they contacted us.

Cool band but they are mainly popular in Europe.

Nice Photos

Wow that is interesting...perhaps the rusting came after, let's say a fire got out of control and they accidently triggered the sprinkler systems :D

Rammstein do have a dark side ...
I hate to mention it seeing as I started all of this but the lead singer has been known to piss on other members of the band on stage ...hence rust????

I was told it was because of Sweat.

Maybe the guitars were urinated on. I did hear they had a pretty wacky stage show.

I am glad it was Keith and not me who touched them.

Well hey.. at least urine comes out sterile. Thank your lucky stars for that! :D

I have had guitars with hardware that rusted a lot, too. But I swear I never pee'd on 'em. It really was sweat, and the fact that I never wiped down the metal parts after playing. I wipe down my Petrucci religiously nowadays, hoping to avoid this very issue.
