Wow, that looks awesome.

I like the fact that you're going to struggle to ever take two pictures that come out the same! :D

Sorry if you dont get the "odd english" - have you seen Jamie Oliver yet over there?

Yes! My wife met him at a book signing in Toronto. Security nearly dragged her away as she dove on him to hug him and plant a kiss!!!
She can't handle star power. I won't even tell you what happened when she was 20-30 feet away from U2! :p

Thanks everyone! This guitar was kind of a test - I wanted to see what kind of a job I could do on a guitar (I usually fool around with musclecars). I will be shooting a few more colors on other guitars this spring, and if the response is favorable, I will probably offer those colors as options.

The color is not a Dunlop product, my buddy works in a shop building GT-40s and they have some whacky stuff lying around. It's a somewhat custom color, and it's water-based. Some new prototype SEMA paint or something...

Hey Pete,
Nice job!

So how did you make the repair around the trussrod wheel where the big chunk was missing?

That is one wild paint job, I'll bet it looks killer under stage lights...

fred

Fred, the chunk that cracked off was still floating around inside the guitar case. I simply cleaned, glued, clamped, sanded, and then painted :D

Nice, nice job Pete. And the body style so complements the sparkle finish. Does your friend have anything that runs blue/purple/red ?

Pete, maybe because you love messing with muscle cars you had the desire to trick up the JP? Or maybe Keith has a point? I like it.

Cool, you did a nice job on the repair. I was worried that there might be something more than cosmetic damage to it.

I think you might have a nice side venture going here. I'll be looking for you out on the reranch forums... :D

Thanks! The neck needs some tweaking, but other than that this baby plays like a dream! And yeah, I'm looking forward to spraying my next victim already - this one Just thinking of a wicked color scheme for it.

Well with the musclcars I tend to be more "go" than "show" - I like a finished product that is unassuming but tears your head off. (should be pulling wheelies this year!) I guess I'm the opposite way with guitars because I'm not a speed demon on the guitar so the paintjob is! The clearcoat smells foul, even with a respirator and paintsuit on it stinks. The good news is that I have no brain cells left to kill!

No, he doesn't, but I do! I now have access to about a dozen flip-flop colors. There's one that goes lilac-silver to green blue, one that goes purple-silver to green (similar to Mystic Dream) one that goes bluish-silver to greenish blue, one blue to purple, one blue to red, and one invisible to blue... and more. Maybe I could mix something up.

I think it was to one-up Ernie. Now Pete's got one that he can't his hands on :p
Unless he convinces me to paint one up for him special... I have enough left to shoot another guitar. ;)

Pete,

Killer job, particularly the repair! I remember when you posted the pics of the damaged guitar; nice job resurrecting the JP.

Musclcars & exotics hate overspray....

Here's the painting pics that I could find, sorry no "before" shots, I accidentally deleted them. These are off my camera phone because I kept forgetting the digicam at the house. I've got some wetsanding pics around here somewhere, too...

I got a chance to see the guitar yesterday and it is sweet!!! Pete did an awesome job.

I think the green color looked the best, but that is my personal opinion.

Janice, it looks like a 68 Vette from what I can see. :)
