Let's see what Dan can come up with... I'm sure he'll find something ;)

Thanks! :)

Oli...you snookered me!!! :D

Dan...beware!!! this Guy is like a shark in the dark! ;)

HAH! Yes, this is a classic case of snookering, indeed! :p Thin particular beauty was completed on January 31, 2001. Almost all 100 of the NAMM Centennial basses were completed at once, right at the end of January 2001. They are probably the only ones we ever used the the "pre-EB" serial numbers on ... well, since the earliest days - of which we have no records of anyway!

That's an interesting piece of information! Thanks, Dan.

My friend wants to buy my Sting Ray. It's a '79 I think. B014396 is the Ser#. Inca Silver. He has offered me 2K. I have owned this guitar since 1983. I really dont think I can sell it. What dya think? Oh BTW, as you can see this is my first post. If I have posted in the wrong place please forgive me. Thanks!! : )

Hi Jim.

Welcome to the Forum.

Records of Pre-EB serial numbers don't exist. From my lists, your Bass is consistent with being a 1979 model. Although the serials have a general chronological order, there are some that are way out of sequence. Because of this there's a slight possibility that it may be a 1980 Bass. Dates are recorded on the neck heel and in the neck pocket on the body but the neck has to be removed to view them. The silver finish is named "Inca Silver".

(I've replied to your email also)

Braaheim - your Natural (and originally Rosewood fretted) StingRay 5 was completed on 2/07/92 and sent to New Jersey Guitar & Bass Center in Edison, NJ.

Wondering year and original paint color of a bass with serial number 36878. Not sure what the letter is before hand, but im hoping that isnt a problem. It is a stingray4 in a dark green color, definitely is before 97. Wondering if the green is original.
