Marc - this beast was completed on 4/19/01 and shipped to Big Dude's right there in your town. It is a Black Sparkle StingRay 5 with a rosewood board and was shipped with a white pickguard. Buying it?

Dan

Owow, stop searching, I googled the serial number and came back with a link to the EB forum. Exactly what I wanted!

So, 5'er, black sparkle, original white pickguard, but now with a(n) (ugly) mirror PG. Does anyone know how many there were made in black sparkle?

Here's the auction on ebay. You're too late, it's already mine!

Hello,

I recently had the amazing fortune to purchase (second hand and for a ridiculously low price) a gorgeous Music Man Bongo 4HH fretless bass. Being of rather modest income, this is a dream come true for me. The bongo is, as all here have testified, a marvellous instrument and an absolute joy to play.

The gentleman I purchased the bass from indicated that he had special ordered the bongo and described it as having a rosewood fretboard, which struck me as odd because I though pao ferro was used for fretless bongos.

The serial number is F14166. Could you confirm the date of manufacture and what wood was used for the fretboard?

Thanks kindly.

Jack, Yes the Bongos are awesome, aren't they? Yes, you are correct, all fretless basses (except for new Stealth models) use pau ferro for the fretboard. A lot of people get that confused. Your Bongo bass was completed on 2/16/06 and was shipped to Mother's Music in Edmonton .

Stingray and Sterling

Hi!
I have a Stingray LTD 2005 SN:E47172 I would like to know what kind of woods it's built of.

I have another Sterling SN: F07580 and I don't know the colour because is out of production. Looks like wine.

Greetins from Spain!:)

I don't want to be a complainer, but I will ask it again. I know it's a black sparkle, but do you know how many there were made in black sparkle in this year (or years)? I'm into 'originality' ;)

Thanks for the search!

KB, my apologies for taking a lot of time to respond, but this kind of stuff takes a good deal of time to research. There were about 230 StingRay 5 basses built with the Black Sparkle finish, which was offered from 1999 until 2003.

Hey, thanks for the reply. I am not sure bout the number cause it didnt arrive yet, and you cant see one digit on the photo. but it is X15 42, and the missing number is either 8 or 0. If its no 6 of course.
