KB, my apologies for taking a lot of time to respond, but this kind of stuff takes a good deal of time to research. There were about 230 StingRay 5 basses built with the Black Sparkle finish, which was offered from 1999 until 2003.

Dan

no apologies, you did a great job! Thanks for the info!

Hey, thanks for the reply. I am not sure bout the number cause it didnt arrive yet, and you cant see one digit on the photo. but it is X15 42, and the missing number is either 8 or 0. If its no 6 of course.

Well, if the number turns out to be X15042, then what you've got coming is a SUB Sterling in Textured Red built on 5/2/06.

Need manufacture info

Hi Dan,

I have here a EB Stingray #E18267. Can you please tell me the date of manufacture, the woods used, and what the color is called... it is sort of a green... also, is that pickguard called "sparkle" or something else...?

THANKS A MILLION!

MrB, welcome to the Forum. Your bass was completed on 12/06/00. The finish was called Metal Flake Green. The body should be poplar (though it could be ash), the neck is solid maple with a matching headstock. It left the factory with a black pearloid pickguard, can't say what it may have on it now. Nice find!

Chuey, welcome to the Forum. Your Stingray bass has a Graphite Pearl finish and a maple neck with a rosewood fretboard. It was completed on 05/18/04 and was originally shipped to Guitar Center.

date my stingray 4 please?

hello,
Can you please date my stingray 4 bought new a couple of years ago from Dolphin music in liverpool england serial No. E53726

it has been my main gigging bass since purchase (with none of the supposed g problems!)
I Am very pleased with it and think its a 'keeper' (mind you the new vintage looking 2eq versions with the muted bridge look tempting mmm....)

Sterling

Hi,

My best friend (and bass player too) has just purchased a used Sterling (black/maple). S/N is F 04873.

Hopefully I was right telling him it was built late 2001 ?

Please EBMM people, if you can give me a bit more information about this bass, thanks in advance !

Bri, welcome to the Forum! Your Black StingRay was completed on July 12 2006.

What "G" problem? - I have always thought that it was a more a technique issue more than anything else - though that isn't a subject to be debated here.

Regarding the new classic series - there is no law against owning more than one StingRay. Problem solved! :D

Hey,

I'm new to the forum. Have been playing for maybe 6/7 years and have always ALWAYS wanted a 3EQ black stingray 4 with a black plate and a maple board. Well now I've got one and I couldn't be happier! I would however love to know its age,
the SN is 47771 - am I right in thinking late 95? Also, there are black screws holding the scratch plate on. should they be chrome? Annoys me because I think everything else is original.
Cheers
Karl
