I just picked up a 5 string fretless Sting Ray. The serial number is E18819. Any information about it would be appreciated.

This is an off white color with black pickguard 4 string. When was this made and what is the color actually called...Butter Cream?

This one was done on September 4, 1990 and the color was originally white. Over the years they tend to "age" to a more vintage white or buttercream color

Hi. I was given a black 4 string stingray bass from the widow of the composer/Bass player in the musical theater where I work. Now I was wondering how long time he had it:
Serial: B014514
Thank you.

Hi and Welcome! This serial number would be from a pre-Ernie Ball Music Man bass. We do not have the serial number records in our database for those, but you can check this website to get an idea of when this Music Man bass was made: SERIALS Pre-EB and EB - Musicmanbass.org, Music Man, Musicman, Music Man Bass, Musicman Bass, Music Man Guitar

Thank you Aziah. Ok, so if one is listed as: B014512..Mar/Mar 1979. Black with Maple,
Then his/my Music Man B014514 will most likely from that month/year (at least year)?
In that case it is still quite good looking.

zob...records don't exist for the Pre-EB Rays but your serial indicates 1979. If you want to go to the extent of removing the neck, dates can be found on the neck heel and in the neck pocket on the body.

It should be 1979 and chances are that it will probably date to around March. However, keep in mind that the serials are not necessarily chronological.

Hi Guys!

A couple of days ago I bought my 3rd Music Man Steve Morse model guitar, this time it is a Y2D (tobacco burst). Amazing instrument indeed!

The serial is: G27245

Can you please tell me the date of manufacture and any other details you may know about this instrument? The neck-plate (or whatever it is called) says "Custom Made". What does this mean exactly?

Thank you for your answer in advance.
