Hello, I'm trying to nail down some info on this Sting Ray and I have some info to post. It appears to have been worked on by someone that had no business working on pretty much anything...))

Serial number on bridge - B012408
"Patent # 4031798 on Bridge
"March 02, 1979" located on neck heel
A "1" inside a circle is located above the date on the neck heel
There's a number in the neck pocket, but I can't make out more than a couple of digits
"Music Man" stamped on the tail of the bridge
Strings though the body.
Natural body - Appears to have no finish at all. Grain of the wood can be felt.
Maple neck.
"R" inside a circle on the peg board in the name
Black Pickguard
Non-epoxied circuit board underneath
Chrome battery pocket cover.

It may be perfectly fine, but the circuit definitely needs some work. I'm curious about the body's finish. I guess it has been stained, but very little more. I think it will be an awesome instrument when it's working properly. The black pup wire is detached (I'm ASSuming this goes to a ground somewhere) and the treble control simply spins. So it's not operational at the moment. I want to be sure of the age and details before I proceed.

Thanx for any help!

Ser # E41017 Revisit

Hello, Just got this one delivered and because there is conflicting info with the answer I'd like to revisit if you would please:

Original Question: Hi, can I please get the stats on this one:
E41017, SR5Hp. Any possibility of any info beyond the build date, i.e. original color, build spec/configuration. etc?

Original Answer: Blue Pearl, June 2nd, 2004, ceramic pickup, probably a non compensated nut, aside from that the specs will be identical to what is on the website currently.

It's the color that raises the question. The attached pics is the neckplate and the bass which I believe to be Medallion Gold

Any chance the system color or info for this ser # might be incorrect?

Thank you

Just a quick post to say how much I am still enjoying my SUB4. It is the bass which is pictured on the SUB part of the database. It is a great bass and I am sure will continue to serve me well for many years to come. These USA SUBs were marvellous basses for the money!

Unfortunately we have no information on Pre-Ernie Ball instruments. The dates on the instrument sound consistent with the other information you provided. You can also cross reference this website for more information: Home - Musicmanbass.org, Music Man, Musicman, Music Man Bass, Musicman Bass, Music Man Guitar.

Would like to know woods used and dob for an sr4 with serial 43712

December 8th, 1994, maple neck, rosewood fretboard... no info on the body. It could be ash, alder or poplar.
