Hey guys. I'm new to the forum (obviously!), and I was wondering if someone could give me some info on my E59092. I just got her on Thursday and I'd love to know her birthday and all that other good stuff!

Thanks,

Matthew

Heya Dan,

Is it possible to get a DOB on F01122? It currently looks to be a very light honeyburst Sterling with a black pickguard. Thanks!

Kristopher, Yes, your Sterling is indeed a Honeyburst (though we just called it Sunburst back then), and it should have a rosewood fretboard. Your bass was completed on 2/09/99.

Sweet~

Hey Dan, any luck with my mismatched neckplate investigation? Should I stop bugging you and contact someone else about it? I'm just concerned about the warranty at this point since #E00345 is registered under my name, but that's obviously not the bass I have.

Cliff,

I am very sorry for not finishing this investigation sooner. I started looking into this a while back, then got busy and kind of shelved it for a while.

Knowing that the first year we did matching headstocks was 2001, they still hadn't caught on to the degree they are at now. It wasn't too hard to figure out when your bass was built based on the production date that was stamped on the body. This would be the date the body was sent to Finishing. The first StingRay 5 built after that date that was exactly like your bass was shipped to Carl's Music in Lexington, Kentucky, and the next one was sent to - you guessed it - Royal Music Center in Brooklyn, NY. These were the only two that would be in the right time frame to be built with that body that you now have.

So, my conclusion is that your correct serial number is E34915 and the correct build date is 1/8/03. The plates had to have been swapped at the store for reasons we will probably never know.

Hope that helps - and yes, your warranty is valid... so please rest peacefully in that assurance! ;)

And someone probably has a Trans Teal SR5 that has your serial number on it .... they will probably check in shortty.

Dan

Another D.O.B request:

Hi, Dan. Got a bass for practically pocket change this weekend. You'll see why below:

SUB 4-string, serial #: X00081.

The former owner had this bass stripped of it's body-finish, so now it's "natural".;)
Can you tell me what it was originally?

Also this bass were never cleaned I think. So from the DOB untill I cleaned it three days ago........It took me a while, especially the fretboard. Urrk!!!

Anyway, it's nice and clean now and a great instrument. What a value indeed!!! I'll have light-gauge strings on this one and slap the crap out of it hehe. 2-band,baby!:)

Thanks a ton Dan. She plays amazing and is pretty clean for being 8 years old. I would never have guessed it was older than a couple of years.

Rock on.

Kenneth, that's cool that you were able to score that and rescue the "wounded pup" from its prior owner. The original color was the textured black. The production date was 5/01/03, probably one of the first ones to arrive in Europe. Nice! :D

-E59092

Pretty Pretty Please?!?

Matthew

Matthew, certainly! Sorry, didn't mean to overlook your request! Your lovely StingRay was completed on 4/05/07 and was originally shipped to L & M Music in Chattanooga, Tennessee.

Thanks alot Dan! My SR is still just a baby...:D lol

And I did buy her at L & M last thursday, so that is a good thing. I had this scary dream that I went back because something was wrong with it, and in the dream they told me that it was sold "as is" lol.

I bought their lifetime coverage plan with it anyway....

Thanks Again!

Wow, this thread looks like exactly what I was looking for. I have 3 Stingrays - two well-loved beauties and a new HS. Can you please help me determine their 'birthdays?'

47475 Honeyburst SR4, '95 or '96

D06808 Trans Red SR4, probably '97

E58640 Black SR4 HS, new

I bought them all new, but I can't remember on the 95/96, and it would be nice to know on all of them.

thanks!!
