This StingRay Classic was completed on February 11th, 2010. The color is Candy Red with the Birdseye Maple neck. It was originally shipped to Guitar Center.
SR4 Fretless - E07087
SR5 - 50097 on bridgeplate
I'd appreciate date of manufacture on both please. I think the SR5 is 1988.
I bought the SR5 from Dave Bronze c1991 but soon afterwards the maple neck kept on warping with the slightest change in temperature. I tried getting the truss rod adjusted but it never was right. I replaced it with a graphite neck from Status, who were making a limited edition for Ernie Ball at the time. I couldn't persuade Status to sell me the neck badged with MusicMan Stingray, so the guitar has been badged ever since as Status! The sustain of the graphite neck is incredible, but I want to put the original neck back on as the maple looks so good.
Any advice or thoughts as to why it was warping so badly?
SR4 Fretless - E07087 - January 4th, 1999.
SR5 - 50097 - June 3rd, 1988. It's difficult to say without seeing the temperature, humidity and storage conditions it has been subject to. Replacement necks are available, but they are proprietary. Send an e-mail to
[email protected] with your serial number, photos of the instrument and your location. We'll get you pricing on a replacement neck and the return procedure of the original neck.

Hi, could you please identify SR13467? It's a Sterling Ray 34. By the color, I assume it was made in 2010. Thank you.

Hello hello hello! I live in China and I think i've found a real Sterling SUB RAY4 but im not sure, from the picture I have its hard to read the serial number but I think its B032037.
Any help would be great cos I don't want to blow my money on a fake, however good a fake it is. Also, if it doesn't have printed on the back of the headstock 'made in indonesia' does that mean its a fake?
cheers
