Hi,
I have a very nice, great sounding and great playing SLO EBMM SUB Bass with a black body and black single ply pickguard. The headstock logo says SUB Bass and it looks like the logo is more grey than bright white.
I would like to know the details of this bass as far as the build completion date, and if it was stock with the black pickguard.
Any additional information you would like to pass along would be great.
Also, I'd like to change the nut out to the compensated nut if you have any available for purchase.
The serial number is X09309.

This SUB 2EQ Active was completed on June 15th, 2005. The color is Textured Black with the Rosewood fretboard. It did originally ship with the matte black single ply guard. Compensated nut blanks are available for order, but installing those on a neck that was built for a standard nut is a very difficult modification that we do not recommend trying. Would you be able to provide the year it was made based on the Compensated Nut & Battery compartment placement?

This one is not coming up in the database. It may be a pre or early Ernie Ball instrument. The serial number database didn't come around until the late 1980s after Ernie Ball took over the company so we don't have the production records of the pre or early Ernie Ball instruments unfortunately. There may be a date stamp in the neck pocket or on the neck heel that can give you an idea. There is also a good reference website, - Serials Pre-EB Sabre

It's no earlier than 2005 with the compensated nut. We don't have the date of the battery box placement change noted in the archive. The circuit board shape was changed in October of 2006, it could be possible the battery box was moved at that time which would put this between 2005 and 2006. It could be possible the battery box placement was changed with the new style battery box that was introduced in 2012 which would put this between 2005 and 2012. It's no later than July 2012 since it has the old style battery box without the logo.
