Hi I have (I think) a 90's stingray 5 I bought secondhand, I was wanting to find out when it was made and also the type of wood. The serial no on the bridge is 59835.

This StingRay 5 was completed on November 7th, 1997. The color is Trans Red with the Maple neck. We used a mix of Ash, Alder and Poplar for the body wood in the 90s. The serial number database doesn't specify the body wood information for each instrument, but Trans Red finishes were most commonly Alder.

This StingRay 3EQ was completed on July 3rd, 2000. The color is Black with the Rosewood fretboard. The new 18v StingRay Special preamp was released in 2018 and can only be found on the StingRay Specials. We did not make an alternate "hotter" preamp for the StingRay 3EQ models.
