Hi there!

I've been a proud owner of a Sterling since about 95, I think. Bought it used from Bass Northwest and have loved it ever since. I'd love to see when my bass was made. Best I can tell is Spring of 04. My serial number is 40722 (from the bridge), it has a bird's eye maple neck, and the original sunburst color (as illustrated here: http://s34.photobucket.com/albums/d106/EBMMColour/Trans/Original%20Sunburst/?action=view&current=TheoriginalSunburstcolour.jpg).

Here's a picture for fun:

Thanks!

lildrgn, welcome! your beautiful Sterling was completed on 6/01/94. It was originally sent to American Music in Seattle.

This bass was completed on 11/02/95 and was originally sent to Veneman Music, which as you noted, is now a Guitar Center.

Any idea of construction date?

Hey Dan,

Just took ownership of a beautify Stingray 5 in natural finish with rosewood board and black pickguard. The only serial # I could find was 56126 on the bridge, the seller believed it to be '95 or '96 construction. It's completely flawless and shows no sign of wear, so it is a bit hard to believe. Might be one of those under the bed or hidden in a cupboard wonders that you occasionally hear about! :)

Cheers,

Justin

Hi Dan,

this is my first message on this forum (as I'm mainly a keyboard player, yet I also play bass sometimes in a blues band).

I've just purchased this nice pair (in order to seem a good bassist :) ):
- SR4 H serial no. E 53045 color: white neck: maple pkg: black
- SR4 HS Dargie Delight E 56492

Could you please tell me their d.o.b. ?

Thank you very much !

Justin, your assessment is correct. This is what you might call a "time capsule" bass - it was completed on 5/10/95 and was sent to Bill's Music in Baltimore. Nice find! ;)

But of course - congrads on the bass! This bass in the Sunburst (now called Honeyburst) finish you have was completed on 1/27/93. It should have a rosewood fretboard.

Thanks Dan, that's GREAT confirmation news! I had no reason to doubt the seller, he runs a reputable guitar/bass shop in Australia, stocking some fine collectable instruments. Just hard to believe everytime I look at it, such great condition and plays like a dream!

Time for a song and dance...I feel lucky....I feel lucky..... :)

Amazing basses, the 20th being the best bass I've ever played!

Just bought my first EBMM Stingray5. Black/maple --- seems VERY nice. Has the original strings on it, so I'd like to swap 'em out. Suggestions? My bass teacher likes DRs on his SR4 - he says they last longer, (than what....?) etc.

The seller said the bass was purchased in 2004(?) The Serial Number is E28759.

Can you tell me the Manufacture date of this bass?

THANKS!!!!
Dave

Wow, quick response from Dan; very impressive!! My SR5 was made 3/06/02. Thanks again Dan!!
