I just picked up a 1994 Sterling with S/N 42498. It's has a birdseye maple neck, a rosewood board and it's some sort of burst paint job (either sunburst or cherry burst). Any info would be appreciated.

Dan, your sweet Sterling was among the first several hundred or so, being completed back in 8/23/94 when birdseye maple was so plentiful we often used it for basses. Oh, and the finish is officially called Sunburst, now called Honeyburst.

Nice! :D

Robert, that bass was completed on 4/26/01. The color is called "gunsmoke". Although it is not "officially" a limited color, we only did it for a couple years.

Sterling and SUB 5

I have two Music Man Basses:

Teal Sterling 4 w/abalone pickguard- Ser. #F13068
Blue SUB 5 w/black pickguard- Ser. # x16136

Any idea when they were born?

I looked at the site at the beginning of this thread to no avail.

I think, not sure, that the Sterling was made in the Spring of '05 and the SUB in 06 from Summer-Winter.

Is there any way to narrow this down?

Oh, I love my MM basses! Thank you for making such great instruments.:)

Vic, here is the info on your basses:

F13068 - completed on 6/27/05
X16136 - completed on 1/12/07

How's that for narrowing it down?

Nice!

Wow, that was quick! This is one of the reasons I am selling my others basses and making the stable all Music Man basses. Your customer service is the best!:D

kara, this is a black fretless and has a completion date of 11/30/94. Originally shipped to Bill's Music House in Baltimore, Maryland.

May I please request details for serial number E61421?

Thanks very much!
Grump, your nearly new StingRay 5 was completed on 8/23/07, then shipped to The Perfect Bass in Baton Rouge, Louisiana.

Did you know that Baton Rouge is French for "Red Stick?"

muziker, please check the color and/or serial number again ... Our database reports that serial number belonging to a Trans Gold StingRay 5 with a maple neck, matching headstock, and white pearloid pickguard that was built on 8/16/2000 and shipped to Royal Music Center in New York. Hmmmm......

White Bongo

First post, hello all...

I have a white Bongo 4 HS which i picked up in Scotland last year.... serial F08159.. could someone please date it ? Body is white which has faded to an antique white, and neck paint has remained like a polar white ( May not be the correct names, but you know what i mean) ... Neck plate has ' custom made' engraved below EBMM logo... quite a bass... white pearloid plate... Thanks

Hey, Power, welcome! You actually have a fairly rare instrument there! We did not offer the Bongos in White for very long, due to the color discrepancy you mentioned. we decided since we couldn't make the body match the neck we would just not offer the color any more. Not at all sure why it had a Custom Made logo on the neckplate, other than someone here wasn't paying attention that day

Your Bongo was completed on June 21 2004 and was originally shipped to Bass Central.

Nice -
