Could you tell me the kind of neck it has & exactly what the color is? It appears to be Maroon Red.

claude, your Translucent Red StingRay has a maple neck and was built on 1/21/93. The body is alder, which tends to make the red look darker.

Peter, yes, your StingRay 5 with a rosewood fretboard is in a finish that was only offered for a couple of years - the Natural Velvet - which was really just a dull-rub matte finish.

Your bass was completed on 10/20/98 and was sent to our distributor in Sweden.

Thanks for your kind comments on the collection as well. When i started playing 24 years ago a stingray was THE BASS I wanted to own but at the time they were like hens teeth in the UK, So when i was able to get hold of one, I wasn't able to stop .

The LTD 2005 Buttercream was bought for me for Christmas by my VERY kind wife and coincidentally the 10th May is her birthday as well.

Its interesting to note the 20th Anni bass is the only one that wasn't shipped direct to the UK where i live.

Hmmm .. interesting analysis of the color .. are you sure about the serial number? Our records tie that serial number with a bass built on 5/5/2000 and was sent to a pretty well-known country band. The finish is supposed to be Trans Purple.

Actually, Carbon Blue Pearl was a standard color for years until we discontinued it earlier this year. You may have one of the only Bongo 6 H's ever to be built in this finish.

Dave...No official lists exist for the Pre-EB Basses and serials can sometimes be way out of chronological order. However, your "Walnut" SR4 appears to be 1979 (with a remote chance of early 1980). Dates are recorded on the neck heel and in the neck pocket on the body. If you ever have the neck removed, let us know.

Sure, this Sterling was built on 4/26/99 and the description would be: Sunburst/Honeyburst finish, maple neck with rosewood fretboard, Ash body, probably a white pickguard.
