Just recieved my new beauty! My first fretless. I think we're going to have a long, prosperous life together. But, i'd like to pin down her D.O.B. Is this considered a BFR? I ask because, since it's fretless, there's no inlay and I didn't recieve the Official BFR Certificate with the bass.
Thanks!!! E77127

DOB: January 19, 2011 This is indeed a BFR. PM me your address and include the serial and I can get a certificate out to you.
I just got a brand new StingRay 5 HH Ball Family Reserve with the all Rosewood neck. Can't find any info on it. Anything anyone can find it would be much appreciated. Serial # is E72057
It was at the local Guitarcenter for 2yrs. I got it on clearance!!! Super pumped!
Thanks

DOB: March 5, 2009 The color is called True Gold, nice find!!
After changing the guitar, I've got new one. It's bongo 5 HS piezo. The serial is : F23437

Can you check it out man, thx .

You are supposed to get a certificate? Was I supposed to? If so is there any way you can help me out with that?
Also I have one other Stingray 5HH that I would love if you could give me any info on its serial # E56335.

Thanks for all the help!

My BFR had a blue card in the case that said to call customer service with the Serial number and they would mail me the certificate.

Send your name, mailing address, and the Serial Number of your fretless to Aziah and he'll hook you up. :)

Hey there Aziah, I'm new around here too and I have a SR4 HH serial #E76935. I recently got this baby set up and the guys @ the guitar store said it could be an Asian replica. This made me very paranoid and as a result I've ended up here wanting to find out if the bass is real MM. Also I see you can get certificates? Is this for players in USA only? (I'm from New Zealand)
Cheers in advance :)

Hi and Welcome! This serial number comes up authentic in our database as a Stingray 4 HH Black with a rosewood fretboard and black pickguard. It was done on November 4, 2010. We include certificates only with BFR model guitars and basses, which this is not one of those so it would not have had a certificate included.

Gav, My bass is an EB edition with a square neck plate without "Made In U.S.A." stamped on it.
The Headstock logo is the transistional one, so I'm guessing my bass would have been made sometime during 1985-1986?
Is this as close to the actual date that I am going to get?

Thanks.
Guy.

Guy, 1985-86 is about right. The neck heel and neck pocket on the body should have dates on them but of course the neck will need to be removed. You could be lucky and find a dated written with a felt pen on the back of the pre-amp control plate. It was around this time (or a little latter) that they began dating the pre-amp.

DOB: February 2, 1994 This is not the Classic Series that we came out with in 2010

DOB: November 20, 1990 The color shows as "special" in the system, which from that era I believe means it was Trans White.

I'd like to date a Sterling 4H, with maple board, color is some kind of dark blue, not sure how it's named. Looks like a '96 looning at the database.

I'm trying to see if I can get a date on my vintage Stingray. The serial # is B006342. I was told it was 1976, but my research so far shows it's probably 1977. Any help would be greatly appreciated!

Bought a MM Fretless SUB bass a couple years back from a guy in Memphis, Serial # X04346, I payed 400 for the bass and Hard case, I think I got a pretty good deal, but I would like to know some more info about it, Whenever I do see SUB basses I don't see fretless ones, any idea how many fretless were made? Thanks!

Thanks Gav,
I'm having a full setup done soon, so will investigate to find a hidden date then.
Thanks again for your help.

Guy.
