Hello Sir, I am a very new member. I have a Musicman Stingray 5 with the serial Number 52128
Could I please also have information on my bass?? Thank you very much.

Hey Peter, welcome to the forum!
052128 - DOB: 07/22/91, SR5 maple neck. Because this bass is fairly old, there is a limited amount of info on it in our database. This was a special run for Musik Meyer, Germany.

Thank you very much for the information. Could you please also tell me, if it is worth just as much as a "normal" traded Musicman stingray 5, please??
Thanx for all the information

Hi all, Newbie here. After drooling over MM Basses since the late '70s, I've finally acquired one myself; a Stingray 5 HH. A lot of my main influences (Tony Levin, David Paton, Bernard Edwards, ect) were predominantly MM users, so very happy to be joining the Club!
;)

My serial number is E66494; I was wondering if you could tell me when it was made? I'm especially interested to see if it will have the Ceramic or Alnico pickups (haven't taken delivery of it yet). From what I've been able to find out, that serial number would put it pretty close to the changeover period for the Alnicos.

Cheers!!:)

Also, just to let you know that it is now called 'Gail'.

Peter- Unfortunately, we don't deal in the used market, so I can't really give you an accurate estimate as to the what the value of the instrument is. The "special run" for Musik Meyer was probably a finish that we don't normally offer, which would make the bass just as (if not more) valuable as a "normal" traded bass.

Thanks so much for that; what a fantastic resource this is!!

The SR5 has rolled up now; looks like the neck may need shimming, but apart from that it's spotless, & sounds incredible!!

Cheers!!:)

Thanks very much. Of all the reading I've done about guitars, I don't recall much mention of poplar for bodies. Could you comment on the relative quality(ies) of poplar versus ash or alder?
