As much as it is sometimes frustrating - EBMMs have been out of the price range for many people here in Europe for quite some time now. I mean, when I play my BFR JP7 I sometimes think "I'm just holding a used car in my hand".

But that's the way it is with high quality stuff - you have to find a lot of money to pay for that, and you have to think 10 times if you really want to spend that money on it!

And in the higher-priced guitar market there is nothing better than the EBMM, regarding "Value for the money" or just the quality compared to anyone else. Personally, I play EBMMs not because of the best value for the money, but because to me they are just the best, they suit me the best.

Amen to that. I've had em all, we're talking custom shops from other brands, USA models, etc. Nothing beats EBMM.

It's a good feeling to know you have the best available, and that your playing ability is not limited by having a poor instrument. If playing guitars is something you do 365 days a year then its probably worth a decent investment.

I'd rather eat ramen noodles and have holes in my jeans than play some of the beginner level stuff out there.

See for me I personally find the BFR's too rich for my blood these days. And from the point I'm at right now, I'd have to sell one to get one, so it wouldn't happen for me there either since things aren't selling well on the used make.

If anything I would have to sell one to make the bills, house and family comes before toys.

I'll check out the Sterling line when they come out, and hopefully I'll be able to make it down to the Dubaldo ranch to check out a 25th, but I doubt very much I'll be buying one.

I'm not sure when I'll buy my next guitar, but I'm growing ever more skeptical of all the things coming into this country that eventually are found to pose health risks.

Over the past 2-3 years we've seen, imported childrens toys, clothing, shoes all have excessive levels of lead...not to mention pet food, medication, vitamins, over the counter pills, toothpaste, cough syrup, all containing melamine or something else it shouldn't or not enough of something it should.

The latest thing is now certain building materials from china leaking some kind of sulphur that's corroding plumbing pipes and eating electrical wires.

Give me a company whose products I trust and I'll gladly pay more for a little piece of mind.

end rant.

I agree with what you're saying, but these kinds of problems have come from American companies lately, too. Salmonella in the peanut butter comes to mind... That didn't just corrode pipes or electrical wires. It killed people.

We have to be glad that there are companies out there committed to their customers. Lucky for us, Music Man is one of those companies.

Quality is important.

Buying used Ernie Ball guitars helps Ernie Ball, the only reason people sell them is to buy another one :p

I chose an alternate route. I sold all of my OTHER branded guitars to buy another Music Man. So one could say that buying used guitars in general helps Ernie Ball!

i think all guitars prices are wrong
i mean , it`s just wood and some pickups/metals
it shouldn`t go for somethin higher than 1000$
only the musicians buy the guitars , so it`s not about loving the music and instrument now , it`s about making business
i think companies must take money from somethin is not impo like ipods for example,,,u can live without ipod but u can`t live without a gd guitar
it`s like , if ur a gd musician then u should own aloooot of money
i got my guitar like 5 years ago for something around 2000$ and it should cost only like 200$ so it`s not music , it`s business...the bfr is like about 3000$ , wich wood and metal would cost 3000$ ? and if ur talkin for less than 1000 then forget bout japanese and american made guitars ... WHY !!!
sorry guyz , i just got crazy and i love guitar while i`m not able 2 waste 3000$ on a piece of wood , with all my respect to ernieball company but 3000$ isn`t too much ?

I wish I could understand everything you're saying here. I understand that a guitar is just wood, metal and plastic, but there's more to it than that. BP himself said that he pays his employees a living wage, gives them Weight Watchers, Gym Memberships, a 401k plan, etc. These are some really good benefits for ANY company out there. So think of it this way. You're not paying $2000 or $3000 dollars for a few pieces of wood, metal, and plastic. You're paying that money so every person involved in getting it from the raw materials to your hands can survive.

If you want to pay $200 for a guitar, go right ahead and buy that Chinese guitar. You'll just be supporting a communist nation where they employ 5 year old kids to string guitars.

I prefer to support the many hard working men and women who can offer such a beautiful looking, sounding, and playing instrument. Even if that costs a month's salary.

That is just a ridiculous thing to say!

If you just break down the cost of the component parts like wire for the pick ups, screws , plastic for the pickguard , knobs, wood solder etc etc then of course it will come in way under $3000,
Dohhhhhhh but aren't you forgetting things like:-
R & D costs
Factory rental
Building Insurance
Employee insurance
Wages
Taxes
Distribution costs etc etc - come on give EB a break ???

I will write you a check for 10,000,000 if you can share you secret...........Have you ever made Payroll? make it $11,000,000. I want to make bfrs for retail $1,000.00 sell it to the dealer for 500 or so and make that pice of wood for 250....The hardware costs 200...so all I have to do is buy the wood, pay the utility bill workers comp, health insurance attorneys accountants payroll taxes and buy the 5 million dollars worth of machines and then weigh, cut, glue, mill, sand, paint and set it up...I also cannot afford to make any that have a problem...oh yeah then I have to pay salespeople inventory people supervisors human resources people management and 7 full time engineers to design for the future.......Fifty bucks...sounds good as long as I dont have to advertise....WE wont even talk of taxes.....or shipping, or inventorying cases that we get to mark up 5 bucks but sit on the money in inventory and pay .75 per foot per month OH yeah what about rent....I forgot

Just when I jinxed this and said what a great adult conversation

Sales? - you get them every now and then.

I know it's hard to fork out all that money for a guitar .. doesn't get any easier when you get older as your money has to go further. Shoot, my son starts University this year, and I cringe about the money I'm gonna have to pay out - no new balls for me for some time !!
