I wander if Mark Hoppus was a big influence on him, seeing that they both have Fender signatures.

Hehehe, I can't get over how HUGE the Jazz looks on small people. What kinda signature jazz is that? I have seen one befoe but have forgotten who uses it.......

As Bovine said it's a Marcus Miller Sig. Actually I sold it yesterday believe it or not.

I bought from a friend who was crazy about Miller - I was crazy about the vintage styling - I love the 70's era Jazz basses. It was for sale - well you can figure out what happened next....

It was a nice bass for the $$ - It doesn't compare to a EBMM though!!!

Some dude with a Fender signature model bass.

Must be a bass player, that's my thinking.

Hey now - I like Miller but I don't try and flaunt what he does as my own style. I know there's not to many fans of Miller and other bass soloists here - But to each his own. I don't solo either - but I still like their music.

Actually I sold it because I got tired of people saying "Isn't that a MM sig?" everytime I played it.

Now if there was a Bovine Sig EBMM Bongo - I'd buy that!!!!

:D

I've played a couple of those Marcus basses and thought they were pretty nicely done.

But...and this is coming from a guy who owns some basses with some fairly odd pickguards....that is one ugly pickguard.

 Blasphemy!" You are saying a jazz cant compare to a MM?! The jazz has its very own sound that nothing can simulate!

Yeah - I agree. It's kinda weird. But considering the mods he had done on it - it was the only way considering the Jazz body doesn't have a cutout for the electronics in the back, etc.

I understand. I have a American Dlx Jazz
(See me show it off here: http://home.earthlink.net/~cgworkman/bassgear/fender5/index.html )

The quality on this one is equal to a Stingray and vice versa. However, your average Fender Jazz can't compare QUALITY wise to an American made Ernie Ball Music Man anything. Sorry... But it's the truth.

Fender makes junk and recently they've started making some nice instruments too. EB only makes quality. They don't have a s h i t line like everybody else - Even Warwick (did I really just say that?!?!?!).

There's something to be said about that.

This Fender is the first Jazz I've ever played that can hang in both construction, tone and playability. In all honesty - for $1600 it sure as hell better be!!!!

Actually, I own two pretty nice Jazz basses, a 62 RI and a Custom Shop 64, and I think I get a pretty nifty Jazz-bridge-like tone out of my dual humbucker Bongo 4.

And guess what? The Bongo with the single coil in the neck position? Guess what? Are you guessing?

But I agree, the Jazz bass is a different animal. I wouldn't give up that CS Jazz for anything. The 62 RI, well, I might give that one up, but can't because the wife bought it for me.

I WAS a fender nut Ive owned several jazz basses my self. Used to be the only thing I played. And the jazz does have a different sound than a mm but in my opinion not any better or worse just different (However I lean more heavily on the Musicman sound). However since I bought my stingray 5. I have come to the conclusion that EB/MM kills any jazz ive ever plaved as far as construction and playability. My stingray 5 has better action than any other bass ive ever played and is more comfortable than most 4 strings that ive owned.
