On the weekend a close cousin of mine suffered a major stroke aged 53.
He has been a farmer all his life in Mexico, Mo and has farmed land in excess of 3000 acres. Last time I saw him was when he came over to the UK with his family last year - Happier times indeed. We have spent a lot of good times together over the years and I love him a lot.

The news today is that the family will meet this afternoon to say farewell to him because it is only the life support machine that is keeping him going and without going into detail there is only one decision that can be made here.

There are many livelihoods riding on the decisions that have to be made over the coming months and I pray for my family as they make the decisions and come to terms with this tragedy.
I know that I have support from my friends on this forum.

Carpe Diem
Edit
I was hoping to make a happier announcement on this my 3000th post I now dedicate it to my cousin Dan.

Perspective.....Very Very sorry for your impending loss...As you get older you are confromted with these reminders of lifes value and many times we tend to loose our perspective shortly thereafter...

I've been on the phone to St Louis where Dan is hospitalized and where the core of my family are, and no news of yet.
At this moment I am downing a bottle of American (Californian) White wine and drinking a toast to the memories I have of him - a "nice bloke".
I appreciate your comments - they do help believe me.

I was really at quandary whether to make this post - I realise that I have made this very private moment public - I have no regrets in doing so on this forum of which I'm proud to be associated with, and of which I try to contribute.

Normal service will be resumed and if anybody wants to reminisce about 70'S Welsh bands = I'm yer man.

RIP ol' mate it was good to have had you around and those memories are golden.

I just got off the blower to my family - I heard that he donated all his organs for transplant - I'm toasting to his memory now with a nice bottle of Peroni (Italian) beer. Cheers Dan !!

Spud,

Obviously I never knew your cousin, but If he was anything like as nice a bloke as you've always come across on here on the forum then his passing is sad news.

Not wanting to butt in on your private time but I'll raise a glass to his memory if you'd like
