Ok, I got my Graphite Pearl Petrucci in the mail today. Played it for about an hour.
WOW. Great guitar.

My first impression short review:

1. This is the fastest guitar I have ever played. I have a Jackson Soloist and Jackson San Dimas Strat modified for a flatter radius and the Petrucci Smokes them both. Very Fast. Promotes a light touch which is good.

2. This is the easiest guitar to use two hand tapping technique on. The tapped notes sound out clear and easy and sound great.

3. You can play great chugging rythms.

4. Great tone, I like the harmonics that jump out. The sustain is outrageous.

5. The Trem is amazing. Feels like a Floyd but has the massive brass sustain block and steel saddles, so it does not have the tone sucking problems of a Floyd.

6. The Guitar has a nice modern sound and feel. You guys are going to get me in trouble with this guitar. I have recently been going retro and playing blues music with Strat tones. This Petrucci is a metal monster. Now I am goiing to have to start playing heavy metal again.

7. The guitar (graphite pearl with the bullet inlays) also looks great when you strap it on.

8. Very solid, built like a tank, yet lightweight.

9. You have to love the Schaller locking tuners. With pearl knobs no less!

Great design and great guitar. Now I have to try one of those Albert Lee models
. . .

Henry,

Welcome to the club! The Petrucci is an amazing piece of craftsmanship. I agree with your observations. The guitar has fantastic sustain and it feels as solid as a baseball bat. The trem is one of the greatest guitar innovations in the last decade or more.

PLEASE tell me you got the Piezo. If not, you need to place a new order right away!

Your JP guitar wouldn't be the same one that started it's retail journey from here, then went to Mass, then eBay, then...? I sold a Graphite Pearl matching headstock 6 w/ inlays, no piezo ( identicalshmedical to yours?) around a month & a half ago or so and watched it begin a journey... I'll have to PM you the s/n...

Nice axe for sure, & an awesome color.

Just tracked the guitar down with my 1337 h4x0r skillz- yep, that started out here, went to Mass, then Arkansas, then to you!

Congrats & thanks for buying a guitar from me indirectly?

Wow. It is a small world. So this Petrucci went to the east coast and back. A long journey. It was very hard to find a Petrucci in Graphite Pearl with no piezio and matching headstock, bullet inlays, etc. I may have to get one with piezio eventually (in another one of the cool colors like desert gold) but I wanted a standard one first.

You got that off pmblues.com didn't you? haha I can tell by the back drop. I just got the same thing, but without the bullets. It is my second one. My first was a white one, but I've always loved the graphite pearl the best. Awesome pick!!
