Ok, I got my Graphite Pearl Petrucci in the mail today. Played it for about an hour.
WOW. Great guitar.
My first impression short review:
1. This is the fastest guitar I have ever played. I have a Jackson Soloist and Jackson San Dimas Strat modified for a flatter radius and the Petrucci Smokes them both. Very Fast. Promotes a light touch which is good.
2. This is the easiest guitar to use two hand tapping technique on. The tapped notes sound out clear and easy and sound great.
3. You can play great chugging rythms.
4. Great tone, I like the harmonics that jump out. The sustain is outrageous.
5. The Trem is amazing. Feels like a Floyd but has the massive brass sustain block and steel saddles, so it does not have the tone sucking problems of a Floyd.
6. The Guitar has a nice modern sound and feel. You guys are going to get me in trouble with this guitar. I have recently been going retro and playing blues music with Strat tones. This Petrucci is a metal monster. Now I am goiing to have to start playing heavy metal again.
7. The guitar (graphite pearl with the bullet inlays) also looks great when you strap it on.
8. Very solid, built like a tank, yet lightweight.
9. You have to love the Schaller locking tuners. With pearl knobs no less!
Great design and great guitar. Now I have to try one of those Albert Lee models
