Cudbucket,

Wow, that's so impressive! Keep up the great work. I can't wait to
see the finished product. So, what's next, the trem cavity?

Take care,

Looking good Dave! Don't be such a stranger!

Hey Jon. I've been so busy over the Holidays and with work. It's good to be back on the board.

Scottie, you nailed it. I patched the tear-out on the ferulle cuts tonight. Tomorrow, the neck goes back on and I line up the trem for the route.

Updated my site with 25 pics today. The following pages have been added to:

1) Router Templates: I added pics illustrating how I made 3/4" thick MDF copies of the Stewart-MacDonald trem-templates I ordered. The thicker MDF templates work better with my longer pattern-bit and are easier to clamp.

2) Neck Pocket: I cleaned up the tear-out on two of the ferulle recesses and filled in the errant bolt hole.

3) Trem Cavity: This is a new page illustrating the routing of the trem cavity for the Wilkinson trem.

As always, thanks for looking.

Brentrocks, probably a trans yellow or orange dye, grain filler, sealer and nitro clear coats.

Finally got my pup templates done and routed the cavities. Site's updated too. The "router template" pages shows pics of the template making and there is a new page-link for the "pick-up cavity". Thanks.

I just posted some pics from the hand-shaping I did on the round overs around the edge of the body. The pics are in the "Making The Guitar Body: Shaping" section. Some of you may have noticed that the routed roundovers left a flat area all the way around the body. I removed that by hand shaping with 36 grit paper first and then working up from there.

The pics below show the layout I'm using for the tuners. These pics aren't up on the site yet though.

Thanks again.

Ok, so I retraced my string layout on graph paper and then centered my headstock template over that and traced it's outline. Then I layed out my tuners closer to the edges of the headstock and ended up with a nice layout that will have a very slight splay (angle) to the strings. What do you think of it now?

Thanks again fellas.

After reading Jon's comments about the new Parker, I can't wait to see what he has to say about this picture... :p

Good work Dave. I'm impressed as hell at the level of thought and detail you've put into this project. It will definitely be something to be proud of at the end.

Keep us up to date.

Rush, no problem, it'll take 10 seconds. I'll just open the double garage door and point at the tools!

fsmith, I'll have to read that thread.
