Dave,

I just saw this thread, never knowing that it had existed before. Dude, are you finished with that beautiful thing you've created?

For anyone interested in the guitar making process (all the steps that go into it), this is what you're looking for. I was trying to get the guys down at EB to take pics of my guitar while it was in the factory, but no such luck. This is just as good as seeing the process that they take in the EB factory at an even more intimate setting.

That color is stunning, Dave. I love it and I can't wait to see the pics of the final product.

The color and top has that Carribean water look.....man, that is some great water to dive in........If I were to see the guitar up close, I would have to bring my snorkel....

Dave, that is stunning. Awesome work bro and I can't wait to see her all done.

Thanks guys. We're almost there. The body is hanging, having been a week since it's last nitro coats. 25 all together. I may begin wet sanding tomorrow with a target of next weekend for the final sand and polish. Another 10 days or so and this one will be done.

I polished the body today. I'm very happy with level of shine but I've got some stubborn surface scratches that I can't get out. I don't know how they got there either as they weren't there when I finished sanding at 2000 grit. I believe I created them while applying the 3M Finesse It II. I've added 9 pics to the "Finish Stage" page.

Very nice. It's kind of interesting hearing about these 3M products that I'd previously only heard about in reference to detailing cars.

Just a quick update: I took the face down to 2000 again to remove those scratches I mentioned. Then re-polished.

It is perfect now. I am so high on the finish on this guitar. I also spent more time working in the 3M Imperial Hand Glaze this time. Gonna do the back with more Glaze later.

The finish on this guitar is 99% of my DC727. I can't call it perfect because the DC727 and my Petrucci are perfect. But it really is that close. I'll post pics later.

Just thought I'd post a couple of pics of the body after I re-sanded the top and then re-polished. I had some surface scratches that were bothering me. As you can see, they're gone.

Wow! I really wish that I had your skill with wood. That is one great looking guitar.
