dude, I seriously hope you find that bass, but if it's any help, a couple of months ago I saw an sr5 in the same color in savannah (sp) it was about 1000. (new, sounded good plugged in). I'll try and find the stroe if your interested, and the guy said he's been friends with beaver felton of bass central for a while, so he might be able to help.

it was either rody's or portmans. good luck finding your bass man.

Someone has to have a better picture. I can almost dig the serial out but not quite off that photobucket pic.

A hi-res version of that pic might do the trick.

I spent some time with the above image. Using and adjustment layer or two, I can get to the point where the S/N is reflected but there is not enough clarity to make out the digits. :(

Righto, I played with contrast, sizing, and some hue adjustments, but it was still too blurry. Not enough res in the pic to pull the SN with the technology I have :( Best I got, it looked like E84771 to me but that seems wayyy wrong

I am pretty sure it is E8776. If the serial matches a Blue Dawn then I am sure.

IMO, it's an unprefixed serial:

5877x...I can't make out the last digit but would say a "4" or a "6":

"58774" ?

"58776" ?

That would make it a late 1996 or early 1997.

Maybe if Jon checked the data base for a finish that matched the final digit.

Thanks for the help.

I have looked backwards and forwards and I do not have the original pics anywhere.

I can only hope it pops up around my hometown so I can snag it.

I did call the police, and am going to keep an eye out locally. I dont have the serial though, so I dont know what Im going to do if it turns up.

Travis, I hate to say this but being a pastor I can tell you a lot of church horror stories but as you know church is not all bad. Let me suggest asking your pastor to announce it in services and in the bulletin for a couple of weeks. God has a way of moving in mysterious ways.

No I didnt. I tried to find the camera disc with all the close up pics, and I couldnt find it anywhere. I used to write them down, but once I started going through basses like underwear, I quit doing that. Lesson learned.

i cant express how bad i feel for you. i cant imagine what youre going through. ive always taken something (pickguard, control plate, batter box, etc) off my bass and scratched my initials into the finish, just in case my bass does get stolen, i can use that as more proof of it being mine. best of luck to the return of your bass.
This is ok to do,but even doing these type of personal markings does not neccesarily mean that it can be proven that is your instrument when you get the law invovled.
As stated the best way is taking out insurance, because now you have a better documentation of proof ( i.e. model, serial#&make) to present if it is found,ESPECIALLY ! if you are lucky enough to find it in a pond shop.
